NEW DESIGN

While I think it's all well and good to have a new design for our site - I would think that a more useful endeavor, on the part of those that run DS, would be to do something about the fact that it takes FOREVER to get to our messages - send messages, etc.

I have tried different browsers - and nothing - no difference. This site used to run very smoothly and very quickly - that has changed dramatically.

Is there anyone out there - at DS headquarters - that has a plan to fix the speed of this site?

Hat................I didn't even look around (about avi)....I just flat out panicked!!......as for Andre..........he dumped me cause I couldn't change clothes:( Men!!!!

Oh dear - I must start deleting my pms again

ON that subject ......... the message we have on the "sent"ones say they will be deleted in 30 days.

Has anyone had that happen?

And yes I DO delete my pms from time to time.

I can use the help Lars suggested. Tho DS works faster on my husbands computer. He has windows 7 and I have vista. I will delete old messages and see. Mine is so slow I can go downstairs and make tea and come back and it is finally finishing!

Just a suggestion, do any of you use other sites as well? Are they slow too? Maybe you have a virus or low memory in your computer. I noticed DS was working slow, but then I found out it had to do with my computer and not this site.

Deb .. I was not stating anything related to your advice. You said "you gotta change that' which is quite true. I simply tried to point out that 'changing that' does not mean simply renaming the file. You were quite right in what you stated.

Oh Yea Vet...I know that..............and I am glad ya jumped in and told her how to do it.as I was hoping she wouldn't ask me, since I couldn't remember HOW I did it...........LOL:)

RENAME a gif file to jpg:

picture.gif to picture.jpg

MAY result in the file opening, .. and maybe not. It depends on what you are opening it with.

SOME programs look at the file name and if it does not match the FORMAT, the file will not open. Others don't care what the filename is .. but instead look a the file FORMAT and open it. In other words, some functions WILL open a gif that has been misnamed jpg ... and some won't.

To always BE SURE .. keep the file name the same as the actual format ... if it is construced as a gif, keep the filename a gif .. and so on. If the file is 'constructed' (originally) as a gif .. maintain using the gif extension in the file name ..etc.

If you have (say) a tif file and it needs to be a GIF or JPG file, you must CONVERT it to a GIF or JPG file .. with appropriate names .. or you will find some things (editors, websites, etc) not be able to open the file.
