Recently it's been brought to my attention in a group of which I'm a member that several people have been using the group membership list for other that its intended purpose - specifically, to send sexually harassing and/or solicitous messages to group members based on a fetish that is connected to the topic of the group. It's also been brought to my attention that this behavior has been reported to DS repeatedly and nothing has been done about it, meaning the individuals responsible still have access to the membership list and are still able to send harassing messages to group members.
I realize it's difficult or impossible for DS ownership to investigate and properly deal with all such reports, and I understand the value of the principle "innocent until proven guilty". Still, in discussing this problem with other group members, we've wondered whether some small changes might be made. For example:
1. Appointing community leader(s) to oversee EVERY support group, and giving these people the ability to block people at least temporarily from the group itself, if not remove them permanently from DS;
2. Making is so that the list of active members in a group is only accessible to members of the group, making it impossible for members who have not joined or who have been removed from the group to send harassing private messages to group members.
Any chance either or both of these things could be feasible? If a DS staff member would like to contact me privately I would be happy to share more specific details about some of the behavior that has been going on, which I don't feel is appropriate to outline fully on this board. I have been using DS's "Report Abuse" feature regularly when behavior of this sort has been brought to my attention, but the actions taken by DS in response to these reports have been inconsistent.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. You need the evidence. You need to keep the PMs and forward them to DS - and keep them until DS comes back and say they have investigated.
Unfortunately I don't think either of your suggestions are feasible. There are about 30 CLs in total and hundreds of group. Those Cls had to be vetted and there is probably too much of a chance with a large population to let the wrong person become a CL.
There is no way that Cls can block anyone. All we can do is close threads and report directly to admin.
it seems virtually any system change is also out of the questio9n given the number of bugs that have been around for months.
If you want to contact me via PM I might be able to help in explaining what you need to have fopr DS or to ask them to look again. That's best done in private as you can name names.
The biggest hurdle is that this is a free on-line community, which means that it is open, not closed, to the entire diverse world. Just because one person may see the behavior as harassing, sexually offensive, or intimidating, does NOT mean that it meets the legal requirement.
Second, groups that are set up by a moderator are handled by the moderator. So, if this is a group set up by a moderator using information of members in the group to solicit other members, the evidence would take more time to process.
The report abuse feature is the first step for anyone to take.
I realize that this is a free and anonymous online community and as such, very difficult to regulate to any specific standard. My main concern, to be very blunt, is the fact that private chats are being initiated by adults to minors concerning content of a sexual nature, and because of the nature of the particular issue involved, the sexual nature of the communications in question may not always be immediately obvious to an outside reader. I've been aware of the many bugs DS has faced and the time and difficulty that has been required to attempt to fix them; but I believe that some of the behavior in this particular group crosses the line from a merely ethical/tastefulness issue to a safety issue. As I said, I have messaged acuriousfish with the details of this, but if anyone else would like to know more, they are welcome to contact me.
