No way can I be 60!!!!!!!!!! Not possible!!!
I am either 16...........or 97.........depending on the day!!!!!!!!!!!!
I found this (in Privacy):
Regarding Children
We do not intentionally gather Personal Information about visitors who are under the age of [13].
"INTENTIONALLY" Huh? What does THAT mean? LOL
Do you have other information about the age limit for members?
If you do, can you provide the link and where you found it?
I forget just what DS asked me when I joined (in all innocence). I think that age is 'voluntary' according to TOS and Privacy.
I'm assuming that 'visitors' and 'members' are different? But I don't know.
Anyone taken a gander lately?
And yes, I know it's up to the family to block those sites, since DS isn't willing to do that.
I wonder how many people who are on those adult rated groups have actually blocked those sites to prevent their youngsters from looking.
DS has this as one of their many credos:
"DailyStrength is a warm, caring community where you can discuss anything you like with others in a safe environment. Our primary goal is to offer a secure place where you can reveal as much (or as little) as you choose to reveal about yourself and your life challenges as you meet and interact with other members."

If you are not computer literate I would say you should be. There are often free classes available at your local library, or maybe evening classes at local colleges for adult learners. These days it is really important to have some basic grasp of computers and the internet, especially as a parent but also as an adult, it would limit you in many jobs if you had no clue and many things such as jobhunting, council tax, bill paying, banking, are now done mostly or entirely online. By not knowing how to use the internet/computers you can miss out on significant discounts in shopping, holidays, etc too.
Setting parental controls really isn't that hard and doesn't take as much time as you are making out. As far as I know you shouldn't have to set and reset the settings every day, but even if you did it would only take a few minutes (could even be as simple as finding a toggle and switching parental limits to on or off). It is straightforward and may even be in the instruction manual that came with the computer, if not it can be found by going to google and typing in 'how to set parental controls for [put in name of browser/software here]' Or of course you can ask here, people would be happy to step you through it if you ask.
But if you really cannot be bothered to put the basic effort in to learn IT skills, then there is a simple answer - confiscate the cable connecting the computer to the power socket.
You should also set a strong password on the computer, don't use your or anyone's birthday or any actual word they might guess, make it as random as possible, use numbers, punctuation and capital letters. There are websites and things that tell you how to make one up. Every time you step away even for a minute, use ctrl-alt-delete to lock the screen.
As for the age limit being voluntary, I would have thought it had to be - how would they enforce a compulsory age limit, would we have to send them copies of our birth certificate before joining?
I worked at many places where secretaries were supposed to be proficient in Workperfect or Word and were not. And thtere weren't learning to become proficient. They just didn't know and the places would not provide anyone to do training to teach them. It's similar to protecting the computer for kids.
But I don't know that D.S. was ever intended to become any version of porn and I believe that is the actual question--what was the actual intentiona and purpose of the sexual boards here.
I found the variious boards to be very safe, and incredible helpful. So did some boards morph?
Here are all the support sites that fall under Relationships Sexuality:
http://www.dailystrength.org/support-groups/Relationships-Sexuality
There may be member groups created within those sites as well.
If you feel that sites or groups within those sites contain photos or text that isnt in line with DSs Terms of Service or Rules of the Road, you can report abuse here:
http://www.dailystrength.org/help/report-abuse
DS may be slow with their getting their system issues resolved, but they are generally very quickly when you report abuse. And they cant address abuse or content issues if theyre unaware.
So if people are TRULY concerned that there may be some nefarious things occurring, and are not just trying to create an issue where there is none to get people worked up for kicks, then people aught to take action for real.
Man, it's like the villagers are gathering with their lanterns and pitchforks.
That's all I'm getting at. Otherwise, this is all much ado about nothing.
