What is this? Constant Diarrhea

For the past week or so, I have been having several bouts with diarrhea every night, especially after eating and drinking. I'm pretty good during the day IF I don't eat anything! But once I have dinner, I am literally in the bathroom all night. I counted almost 10 times last night! I also have a lot of bubbling and gurgling going on in the stomach.

I might add there is a lot of stress lately in the household as my husband's job of 31 years may result in a layoff at the end of the year. Any advice would be appreciated.

Don't know. It could be a number of GI issues and for sure stress can cause GI upset.

Might want to see your doctor if it continues so you can get a diagnosis.

I agree with rmb that it could be a number of issues from an infection to IBS or possibly IBD.
Best to check with your doctor but if u can't wait then a trip to the hospital might be in order ...good luck with whatever is causing the runs.

Stress can cause any number of bad things to happen to our bodies but you won't know what's going on till you see a doctor.
If it gets bad enough and you feel dehydrated you may want to visit the er if you can't get in to see your doc quick enough.

Might be a good idea to talk to your GI. They would know best how to help. You might need Imodium and maybe a round of Prednisone. That is what I needed with similar symptoms. Your GI will know the best course of action to make you feel better.

If you don't have known GI illness, you likely don't have a GI doctor and pred would only be given if you have an inflammatory issue.

Sounds like the poster isn't sure what she has. I think going to our physician first just for an assessment and then see if a GI is needed based on that clinical assessment. They may want to do stool samples first.

Sounds like a flare up to me. You might want to quit consuming dairy goods first. I could handle them for a long time and then all of the sudden I became lactose intolerant. And even now that I have no colon lactose still screws me up.

If the poster is new to stomach issues I am a strong believer if someone has serious problems with their stomach or intestines if possible with their insurance plan to go directly to a GI doctor rather than a GP doctor. When I first was told I had Crohns i had wasted almost a year going to different GP doctors and I was in a lot of pain for many months, frightened and not knowing what was wrong with me. If I had gone to a GI in the first place I would not had suffered as long as I did. This is also the same recommendations from Dr. Bob Arnot who is a doctor that gives advice for NBC Nightly News and Men's Journal Magazine.

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
