But if you're looking for short term remedies, I don't know what you can or can't tolerate but eating foods higher in calories may help. Also, I know some people drink Boost and supplements like that, which may help as well, although I find those types of drinks to make me feel like crap.
Do you have an appt a new doc in the near future?
What meds are you taking for your CD?
And at the moment I am not on any meds specifically for my Crohn's. I take prescription potassium, iron, xanax, phenergan, percocet, and the vancomycin. Doc wants to put me on a round of prednisone but not until the ulcer is closed up [which will be another month or 2].... So as you can see, sh*t storm all the way around. Lol.
I'm not trying be bossy or get in your business, but we sometimes need to take control of our own care and be assertive. You are unwell and the CD needs to be addressed for real so you don't continue to deteriorate.
Take control.
I really like my GP for the most part. I basically live in the middle of the center of nowhere, when I moved here about 9 years ago I went through a string of moron GP the first year or so until I finally found the one I have now. Small towns don't really attract the most talented of physicians, but I feel confident that I do have the best the area has to offer. He just has an overwhelming load of patients to care for, so while he is a good doctor it's kinda like you said, sometimes you gotta take control of your own care/bug the doctor's office to get stuff done. I plan to call Monday to see what the status of getting me an appointment with a GI is. I'm just behind myself as well on getting things done one because I have been so sick, and two, as impossible as it is to believe that anyone could have such terrible luck, 2 weeks before I went into the hospital for the ulceration in my ankle I spent a week in the hospital sitting next to my boyfriends hospital bed as he was in a very bad wreck with a semi broke his left arm and shattered his left femur. Taking care of him has been my number one priority, but now that he's starting to get around okay with a walker it's time to do some catching up on my own health maintenance. ;)
