My mom has acid reflux and has sensitive teeth because of that....she uses a special tooth paste to help

i'm trying to decide whether i have a bad tooth or it's meds. they are real sensitive now. i did take predisone not too long ago and taking remicade now. i think it's from the sinus problems remicade gives me. sinus's can affect teeth. i'm dehydrated now . it seems every med i take dries me up. i think stomach acid ate enamel off teeth. so it's a guessing game what the problelm is

Not from meds, but I have it on one side of my mouth from being a little too aggressive with the brush.

Lots of stuff can cause sensitivity, like acid, grinding your teeth, teeth whiteners, mouthwashes, cracked teeth etc. Is it all your teeth or one area in particular? I'd see a dentist if it continues just to see if there's something going on that requires dental attention.

I use Sensodyne tooth paste which helps if you do it consistently. Also, my hygienist recommended at night that I coat that area with the Sensodyne using with my finger and then let it sit over night. Kind of grosses me out but it helps the toothpaste really get in there. Otherwise, you're just rinsing it away.

i've always had sensitivity but in the past it was one or two teeth at a time that bothered me. now, it seems to be all of them, which seems strange, hence my idea that meds could be the cause.

the only thing i have changed is meds, no major dietary changes, same brand of toothbrush and toothpaste, no change to brushing habits. i use the gentlest toothbrush i can find and always use sensodyne pro-enamel.

I am thinking the acid-reflux suggestion may be the winner. something to consider.

with $500/mo in prescriptions i can't afford the dentist right now. thanks for the suggestions.

I wonder if your clenching your jaw a lot, or grinding your teeth and you're not aware you're doing it. Both can cause sensitivity and gum recession. Maybe try a mouth guard, just to see if you have any improvement

I do grind my teeth and have a night guard. i haven't been using it, but i guess i should.

It's funny that you mention this because I just started experiencing the same since last week. The crohn's was causing inflammation in my gums before I started treatment. It has since gone but now I have this sensitivity in my front teeth.

I also am taking prednisone.

I figured I would make a dentist appt to get checked out.

i started humira about a year and a half ago and off and on the tooth sensitivity thing gets pretty bad especially the top left side. Just drinking room temp water is a problem. It now comes and goes along with all the other wonderful side effects of Humira

remicade dries me up especially my sinus'. anyway i've been breathing steam and got my sinus' better and now teeth hardly hurt at all. my rash is alot better but now it's time for another infusion and hope my body starts adapting to the meds. humira and remicade are about the same

Any dose of prednisone over 10 mg makes my teeth incredibly sensitive--it was true my first flare and within a week or so of starting on high doses this time, it started up again. It's pretty ridiculous--even room temperature water makes them hurt. I don't have a lot of problems with food, mainly just liquids, so using a straw helps out with that.
