I am SO sorry for your loss! One year ago today I also lost my furry best friend. My little girl developed a very fast acting cancer that spread quickly and made her go fast. It is sad, allow yourself time to grieve, as they are a family member. Remember the good times, thinking of you and your family.

I am very sorry for your loss. I understand how I dog is not just a dog, it is a huge part of the family, and I had the same traumatic experience happen to me, three years ago,. My family had gotten home from a fun vacation in florida, to see that our dog sitters, had accidentally let the dogs loose, and one of them was hit and killed by a car. We havnt forgiven ourselves since, for going on that trip.Anways, I understand what you and your family are going through and I wish you the best. My heart goes out to you and your family during these sad times.

My condolences to you and your family on your loss. I am more of a cat person, but I had a cat who passed from old age maybe 4-5 years ago now who I'd had since I was only about 5 years old, he lived to be almost 20 himself and losing him was hard. Then about 5 years before his death we added another older cat to our family, about the same age, and 5 years or so after his passing she also went from old age, so it was very hard to lose both of our family pets. I miss having my kitties to pet. I try not to think about it anymore :(

I never noticed your dog in the photo till now. I can tell things about an animal's personality by just looking at it. That dog was extremely happy and affectionate. He was also above average in intelligence and totally loyal. My condolences for a very tough loss. Perhaps be comforted by the fact that Walter lived a privelidged life with the best of people.mm

i'm so sorry for you and your son Charlie. i'm at a loss for the right words. we have a chocolate lab, he's my first dog and as he gets older and grayer, i worry about the day when he won't be here with us...

I am so sorry to hear about Walter. That profile pic always makes me smile, look at the concentration on his face. I get the impression that he'll always be by your side.
My brother and sister in law lost our furry family member 3 weeks ago, their dog was 14 yrs old and boy does it hurt.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words. Hard to say goodbye to a friend but he leaves us all with awesome memories.

I am so sorry Charlie. I love my dogs and can not imagine your and your families heartbreak. When I was your sons age I had a dachshund that slept with me. I got her when I was three and had her until the middle of highschool. We did everything together. I am sorry for your son. Today I had three dogs. My oldest is 5 1/2 and every once in a while I look at how fast time is flying for him. It makes me very sad, but then I am even more determined to spoil him with as much time as we have left.

Hi charlie, I'm so so sorry for your loss. We just lost our best friend last year so know how hard it is. Walter will live in your hearts forever!!
My prayers are with your son, I fear he will feel it the worst since the dog slept with him. I missed my thunder in my bed for quite some time and used to cry myself to sleep. The hurt does eventually lesson, and you will have so many great memories to keep him alive.
