The dog with me in my profile picture, Walter, was hit by a car tonite and did not survive. My ten year old son is devastated along with the rest of us. He slept with our son every night and was the best dog ever. He will be missed forever. He was always there when I came home from work with a big hug for daddy. It is hard to say goodbye. I love you and will miss you my friend. Til we meet again. Charlie

when I lost my dog star, I said no more dogs, however after 3 months, I got another dog, and I love her just as much, maybe more....In time, you will feel better about your pal going to the rainbow bridge....You know what helped me, going to the shelters, and visiting the animals.

After my dog Star passed 4/5/05, I said, no more dogs, but 6/24/05, 2 1/2 months later, I got another dog, very small compared to Star, we crated her in the beginning. One night, I had a dream that Star was lying next to the crate, on an old blanket that I bought her years and years ago, that I didn't even remember until the dream...yes, she was watching the pup for mama (me)....I still feel star in the house. And when I do, I feel joy....When you are ready, get another dog...Never thought I would say this, but I love my new dog as much, or more even, than Star...Your heart is a big place, we can find a lot of love in it for more than one pet.....If you live in the northeast when Sandy hit, the rescues are desperately looking for foster homes for the people that cannot take their pets with them while waiting for their home to be fixed.
