Anyway, regarding the crohns and our relationship, my Fistulas can be quite bloody, and its probably hard for us, because she can't stand the sight of blood, and I'm also blind, so it can be a problem sometimes. I have many relatives who are nurses, which I always think would help, but they live in other states. My family just says my wife should be helping me out more, but she don't even like to see me naked, much of less the sight of blood in the bathroom or bedroom, so it can be an issue, especially since I'm allergic to adult male guards, those paper guards, and its hard for me to put tape around my butt, so yeah I guess u could say it affects our relationship a great deal.
I look at it like this: He is who he is with or without UC. I fell in love with Mike, not his digestive system! :O)
My current hubby is great - he knows that there may be times where we have to leave somewhere or rush to the washroom and he never has a problem with it! I lucked out the second time around!
Find any way you can to let her know how much you appreciate her...you're very lucky.
In all honesty, the more that I think about UC and how it has really affected my life, I am not sure if I will meet someone that is willing to be there for the long haul. UC causes so many changes in me--both emotionally and physically--and I am not sure that someone new will want to deal with that.
I believe that I would have to meet someone who REALLY likes me and is VERY supportive in order to have a successful relationship with him.
I am not too sure that that persion exists though--that's alot to ask in the beginning of a relationship.
When starting out with this relationship (aand one before it that didn't work out because we weren't right for each other)... i stated at the beginning, even before any emotion attachment, what i had. i didn't go into any details, we went over that as time went on... but most everyone has a medical somthing or other nowadays. But hell, it literally took me years of repairing the emotional damage this disease caused me before i was ready to truly date and be in a healthy relationship.
