Sugar in general can cause inflammation. I think with conusming it is moderation.

Way back when, after I came down with Ulcerative Colitis, my doctor told me to quit consuming sugar. And so I did, but that and some other diet tips didn't make any difference.

At the end of the day, it is all about what causes a reaction. Everyone's body reacts differently that is why there are general rules but when you get to specifics your doctors always say "it depends on you".

I had no idea that there were tests to determine which foods cause inflammation. My doctor never mentioned anything about that, he just told me to take note of which foods caused me to go more and which ones didn't.

Sorry i didn't notice that anyone asked me a question till now. It is a food sensitivity test, I went to a naturopath and she wanted me to take one. It was an assorted test, they test for many different things all in all it was a test for 350 different things. If I find my booklet and result sheet I will post it here. I think i still have it somewhere.

You might not be allergic to a food type but you might be sensitive to it. For a healthy person they might never notice that they are sensitive to anything, but for an unhealthy digestive system, even the smallest sensitivity might have a big impact.

How long ago did you have the tests done Mike and how much improvement have you shown adhering to suggestions. The science behind some of these tests isn't always solid. How confident were you. I think everyone would do it if we truly felt we could trust the results.

I think most people don't have food sensitivities or allergies, but to me, and this is just me, if someone suspects foods may be bothering them, it may make more sense to do a food elimination diet with foods that are known to cause issues for some people, ie dairy, gluten., etc.

the doctors can do a blood allergy test also, that would more likely be covered by insurance. Mine finally did one for me, and it showed sensitivies also, not just full blown allergieis. I wasn't surprized to see gluten, and dairy as sensitivities.
Nothing has helped me more than the colostrum, and the acupuncture, but with that I was able to start making other adjustments also because I had hope again. so leaving the ice cream at the store, has been easier now. whereas before, I was sick regardless, so might as well eat what I wanted, now I feel more fine tuned, and notice when I up the sugar, not only does the colon hurt, the rest of me does also.
