Hi, I had a colon resection about two and a half months ago. Lately I have been having pain on my right side where the surgery was. I can't lay on it because it hurts too bad and when i move certain ways the pain is worse. I had a bowel resection about five years ago and I don't remember it hurting this bad this far after my surgery and they removed a lot more that time. I was just wondering if anyone else has post op pain like this so long after surgery?

Is the pain where your scar is or is it deeper inside. I have had three resections and each one healed different. Sometimes it takes a while for the body to adjust. Do you have any kind of a fever which would indicate an infection. To be on the safe side go see you surgeon or your GI. Hope you feel better soon.

The pain is inside. I'm not sure if ive had a fever or not. But not as far as I know. My surgeon and gi are two and a half hours away.I just hope it goes away soon. I'm tired of hurting.

I'd at least call the surgeon or the GI just to let them know what you're experiencing. It could be nothing more than continual healing, or adhesions from the surgery, but you'd want to be sure.

Make an appointment and ask to see the doctor this week. Tell them to talk to each other and see which doctor is best to see. Tell them you have up drive three hours to see them and if any tests have to be done make sure they do them when you make your visit. If they think you need a colonoscopy then arrange that you be prep prior to the visit. In my opinion you should not be in this kind of pain this many weeks out of surgery. I can understand if you were cut open and the muscle wall needs to heal but if you feel it is a different pain inside then go see your doctor soon. You should not be in pain.
