Crohn's disease is a systemic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) of unknown cause, that results in chronic inflammation of the intestinal tract. It can affect the entire gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus, and can also cause complications outside of the gastrointestinal tract. There is no known medical or surgical cure for Crohn's disease, but there are many medical...
I dunno. I think it would be an expensive diet to do given that it sounds like everything needs to be organic.
What I do want to say is that I am thinking of you. You have been through so much. I pray that you get the relief that you need.

Sgarcia211, No I havent but my GI doc has never really been too informative about a specific diet just always said its whatever you can tolerate or doesn't give you issues...I plan on looking up more about this diet and can let you know how it goes. I really appreciate the support, prayers, and feedback everyone! More to come on this.
If you've been in hospital 5 weeks then money shouldn't drive your decision if your worried about paying extra for food costs. Suck it up and buy the foods you need to put into your body to natural heal yourself.
Surgery stared me in the face for my severe UC condition and after a couple months of getting my bacterial balance in check through SCD foods and probiotics I now am fully recovered with no medicine. I've also helped others. Maker's diet or SCD does work, I've spent tons of time reading reviews of others, personaly healed myself on SCD. Medicine masks the problems you face, changing your diet and repopulating the gut with good bacterias heals you for life.
You want to get better, than commit yourself to this. SCD or Maker's diet
The thing with diet is that it isn't tailored to suit individual needs. I have tried every diet known to man and none of them helped me or put me in to remission. You should ALWAYS talk to your doctor before starting ANY diet and see if they recommend anything. Do not be discouraged if diet doesn't put you in remission-diet isn't for everybody and since there is no cure for Crohn's or UC, you will ALWAYS have the disease, at best you can hope for long-term remission.
If you want to be pushy and rude about that diet and your beliefs, go ahead, but you need to make sure you aren't telling people its a cure. IT ISN'T AND IT WILL NOT WORK FOR EVERYBODY.
Surgery should always be used as a last resort, but do not discount it.You do not deserve to suffer because surgery seems scary. It is, and it's painful, but I have been in remission since December 27th, 2011 and within 1 week of surgery I was eating salads, fresh fruits, and nuts--things I haven't been able to eat and hold down in years!
I owe my life to surgery and my remission to it. Do all the research you can but do not just discount it. It could very well be the miracle you are seeking. I know it's mine!
People who push the SCD this much generally work with an author or company who pushes it so they are trying to get money. Do your own independent research.
It's based on the premise that we shouldn't eat anything that God didn't provide naturally. I followed SCD then the Maker's Diet for a few weeks before my colon had strictures and i had to have it removed. Since my surgery about a year ago, I've have some ileostomy dietary restrictions, but I've also tried to keep processed food out of the equation. I eat real food! I've been in remission for 3 months and haven't felt this good in years. If I do eat food that is processed my body doesn't really react well to it. But remember, everyone is different and reacts differently to different foods. Good luck.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about diet. I've read up on SCD, Paleo and low residue but have never heard of the Maker's Diet.
Sounds pretty remarkable! I have found diet to be my biggest help - I did a food journal and was able to discover I needed to avoid certain dairy products and foods with high sugar content... (I watched closely all ingredients to be certain there was none of these trigger foods in the things I was eating - I eat mostly whole foods and meals I prepare myself - that way I avoid things I know I need to avoid. Good luck!
