IBS and Gerd (acid reflux)

Does anyone suffer from both of these? I was diagnosed with Gerd last year and am now having investigations to see if I have IBD. My sister has colitis and despite always being told I only had IBS, they did a stool test (tmi!) and found inflamation. Going for camera tests soon. Does anyone else have both?

I have GERD, Hiatal Hernia, Esophageal Spasms, and a Gastric Diverticulum. Yippee for me! All this was dx a year or two after the Crohn's.

I was told 20+ years ago that I had IBS. I was dx with Crohn's in '02.
Not sure if the IBS was a misdiagnosis or not.

For acid reflux we use peppermint oil capsules. Takes away the problem completely... sometimes burp up peppermint taste, but that is not a bad thing.

I have Crohns, acid reflux and IBS. Sometimes it's hard to know which particular illness is playing up! I blame it all on Crohns, usually.

I have acid reflux, a herniated stomach muscle into my esophagus so it won't close completely?
I think that's what he said, I was pretty out of it!!

Also have UC.

I have had my moments where acid reflux would surface and wake me up at night in a panic trying to catch my breath (darn scary). I have learned no eating anything heavy after 6:30pm, specially foods with sauces. Chocolate seems to cause flare ups sometimes too. I don't have a problem when I stick to the plan of eating earlier. My last meal of the day is eaten about 6:00pm. If I'm hungry for something else I will eat some kind of fruit. If I feel any acid from not sticking to eating right. I take my husband's Zantac (one tablet) and I can go to sleep with out worry I will be up gasping for air.

I have UC and acid reflux disease too! I've tried PrevAcid and now I take Prilosec, but doctors warn against taking Prilosec with UC because I think it causes an increased risk in bleeding. It works sooo well though, no heartburn here!

Ok so this sounds like a common thing to have both. I am on nexium for the acid reflux but it doesnt really make me feel that much better. thinking that the main symptom I actually have is the ibd

I have GERD, IBS, and IBD. I have a hietal hernia, too, but my GI said it was common with GERD. Nexium didn't help me at all, but Prevacid does.

I should add that I also have gastritis, once it was so bad, I ended up in the ER with chest pain so horrible that I thought I was having a heart attack!
Prilosec is my drug of choice. Protonix is a close second. Zantac, Pepcid, Nexium, Aciphex, Prevacid don't work for me :(

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
