I had C Diff for the majority of this year. It's absolutely maddening. What finally did it for me was a new drug called Dificid (Fidaxomicin). It's insanely expensive, but it works, and the c diff doesn't come back. Hope you get over the c diff.

You HAVE to look into fecal transplant otherwise known as human probiotic infusion. It absolutely works for c-diff. You have to forget about the gross factor because the results for c. diff are amazing, over 90% success. You can even do it at home yourself, my husband has done all the research and can send you the instructions to an email address if you are interested.

If your really asking what I'd do??? I'd quit eating dairy based foods for a while - give that some time... Yogurt ? eat only a few mouthfuls with a meal not on an empty stomach.... See what it does for you - good luck. I can't handle anything with too much sugar - I'd bleed on the spot - love this time of year when it's cookies everywhere... :( it's ok though I get enough other foods that who cares about sweets? give me a good steak yay! If I were to eat foods containing butter, cream, milk I wouldn't be able to make it to a bathroom either. Worth a shot! Good luck!

Do you know what cdiff is??? It's a horrible intestinal infection that kills a lot of people every year! It's not a problem with diarreah! You poor thing! I caught it last year in the hospital and was given vanco and flagyl. You have to wash everything! Bleach, bleach, bleach and wash with soap and water. The antibacterial sanitizers don't kill it! You can reinfect yourself from your own towels or sheet or bathroom sink if you aren't anal and careful.

In order to get the benifit from yogurt you have to eat a lot of it. Walmart sells their brand of probiotics that are cheap! Take 2 per day and maybe add in another antibiotic. I am so sorry! It sucks!

I don't think you HAVE to do anything. Talk to your doc about getting on a different med.

The entire house reeks of C Diff poop this morning and it is getting worse daily. Been On Vancomycin for a week now and is not helping this time around. Complete incontinence, blood, pain and that horrifying smell. Maybe hospital stay for Christmas. WTF

I spent the last Christmas in the hospital (ICU) with C-difficile coupled with a UC flare-up. Extreme dehydration resulted in a visit to the ER and hospitalization within an hour. Dehyrdration led to Atrial Fibrillaton and a transfer to the ICU. Four days later I was released from the hospital. Vancomycin (14days), Flagyl (3-4 days) and Acidophilus seemed to kill the C-diff. It was really horrible. I have since become a bleach fanatic and clean, clean, clean constantly. I have had a couple of UC flares since then; one that required a few days of prednizone over the President's Day weekend. I continue being plagued with UC and now have been in a flare for about five days. I am sure that most of my flares are caused by careless eating habits. I suggest you turn to the ER. Dehydration is extemely likely to result from C-diff and you need to get it under control as soon as possible.

well the c diff came back for me. been having symptoms for about a week (immediately following my second remicade treatment). I'm back on the Vancomycin. I can't afford another round of Dificid as it's not covered by my insurance. I'm going to get an appointment with an infectious disease doctor. I'm thinking I'll bring up the idea of a fecal transplant next time I see a doctor. I hate this stupid disease. My UC was finally starting to move towards remission and now this again. ugh.

Fecal transplants are excellent for c-diff! My doc does them for his patients and has had great results. Do some research on it!

I just found your post that you did the fecal transplant...Yay! How are doing now????

never mind, the doctor misinformed me. my insurance does cover dificid, so i'm going to try that again even if it did make me sick in the short term.
