I just want to make all of you aware of something. The company that makes and sells Ascol have sell reps. that get 20.000 dollars a month to wine and dine rich doctors to get them to write high dollar scrips while us the people that need the drug suffer. To top it off they don't offer a drug adsitance program.

Not suprised; always got the feeling this medication was BS. Now they are taking it off the market. Good ridens if you ask me.

I found it to be as effective as gelatin capsules.

Asacol was a wonder drug for me for many many years. When I would start a flare I would "ramp up" and take high doses for a couple of weeks then go into remission. I had no side effects and only had to use Prednisone a handful of times in over 15 years of using this drug. Now I can't take Asacol because of a crazy reaction I had to Lialda that almost killed me. I wish I could still take it but now I am on Humira. I realize that every drug works differently for different bodies(especially Lialda...) but for me Asacol gave me many years of peace through 4 pregnancies and raising young kids.

Lialda didn't do anything for me but prior to that I was on Colazol and that kept me in remission for several years. So yeah, not all drugs work for all people, and some work for a while and then quit. It's just the nature of the disease.

I was on asacol for years, too, and I kept telling my doctor it was useless, but he didn't want to believe me. Makes me wonder if he was getting some tempting perks for keeping patients on it. It did cost me an arm and a leg, too. For what??? I often wondered.
