For those of you who have struggled with nausea/vomitiing with your meds, what do you find works best as an anti nausea/antiemetic treatment?
Gravol does nothing for me, so the doc gave me Maxeran. It didn't stop me from throwing up, but i may not have taken it early enough. It did make the vomiting less violent, much easier to handle.
when i was in the hospital last week they were giving me zofran, maxeran, gravol and one other i can't remember the name of all by IV, just to keep the vomiting under control. I am desperate to keep from getting this sick again.
oh, and it turns out the whole reason i was sick and in hospital was due to the imuran, there was no blockage according to the GI, just some slow moving stool.

they also gave me zofran in the hospital, and it always worked well; nausea's the worst. can u get a script for that--i never asked.

Zofran is good too, but for me maxeran is better. Your doc can prescribe either.

Ugh! I am so sorry to hear this. It's so frustrating when the meds that are supposed to make us better end up making us sick :/ My GI wants me to consider starting on Imuran, but I've been hesitant...scared, actually, lol. Are you continuing with Imuran or did you stop it? I'd love to hear more about your experiences on it, how long you took it, etc... I really hope you're feeling better now =)

i take promethazine. it works for me and makes me sleep for a long time so i get the rest i need. i just take some with what meds that is making me sick

Update. I am feeling a bit better now, must be getting the imuran out of my system. I am sad that i was not able to tolerate it cuz i think it was starting to work. Now i am scared of whatever is next. I guess its time to start researching remicade. I am guessing that is my next option.

it does get frustrating going from med to med. i was nervous going on remicade but did not experience any side effects--hopefully you'll have good luck with the remicade :)

Liquid PHENEGREN is the one that works best for me. Just a teaspoon or less works or when the nausea hits. Hope this helps
