Beer bloats me but I do great with white wine and vodka cranberries. :)

Instant heartburn, later pain and diarrhea. I can't tolerate any alcohol.

I find that a glass of wine here and there I can tolerate. I used to love beer & mixed drinks but they don't work for me anymore. Everyone is different though! If you feel that you are "healed" enough try something in a small quantity and see how it does. I find that wine calms me and have a glass usually each night!

I can't drink beer anymore because I get really full and bloated. I can tolerate wine and hard liquor straight (no soda), particularly clear alcohol (vodka on the rocks).

Drinking sometimes messes with my Acid Reflux, more so than with my UC. When my UC is flaring, I don't drink at all.

Don't even get me started on the joys of having a cocktail.

Alcohol is definitely not my friend. Even one drink makes me sick the next day so I just stay away to be safe but I was never really a drinker so it was easy to give up. I understand that it's harder to give up for others. If my husband had to give up beer, it would be the end of the world for him. :)

I can't do beer, but I can drink whiskey/bourbon with no problem. In fact, when I have an upset tummy, I have a shot and it calms everything down in about 15 minutes.

Mom, (71) has been drinking for the past 10 years almost every night - two to three glasses of hard liquor or wine. I know it's contributed big time to her Barrett's throat, but don't know about the other GI issues. I do know that since she's been diagnosed with UC, Crohn's, Diverticulosis, hiatal hernia and Erosive Gastritis - that when she slips now and drinks - visiting her the next day is not pleasant. The anxiety added to the hang over is very evident and overall guilt and fear she now feels. Her condition needs all the healing it can get. We shall see how well she's healed by March with her six month colonoscopy and endoscopy. I say stay away from any alcohol that you can. It's been real hard for Mom, but considering how much she was drinking regularly - she's done really well in comparison. My best to you...

I don't condone drinking a ton. I mean, at the end of the day, alcohol acts as an inflammatory. It can certainly mess with your gut, regardless of IBD, and your health in general.

I LOVE BEER.. Seriously love the taste.. Dark beers in general. New castle brown ale is my all time favorite.. I used to be able to drink it no problems.. NOw, more than 1 and I am really bloated and full and it just makes me feel yucky. During a flare up I can't drink AT ALL. But in remission I can tolerate a few drinks. I try not to, becuase it's always risky.

I can tolerate white wine and vodka, but certainly not how I used to drink it! One to two drinks is about my max these days and not all the time.

I've actually read in a few places that alcohol can have an anti-inflammatory effect, but I highly doubt any benefits it could provide would outweigh the costs. I just had two glasses of wine last night (my first drink since New Year's) and I seem to be doing okay this morning, at least I'm not worse than yesterday. What I have hated giving up even more than alcohol is soda. Has anyone noticed increased flare ups with soda? What about diet soda? I've read that artificial sweetener and caffeine can be bad so I gave up my Diet Mt. Dew. I'm starting to wonder if this is necessary. With beverages, do you usually judge a bad reaction as occuring soon after you have the drink or the next day?

I can have small amounts of alcohol, only something with nothing more that 4% alcohol. If I have any more that, I'm in the bathroom for the rest of the night. It's horrible. The diarrhea I get from alcohol keeps from drinking.

DRINK AS MUCH AS YOU CAN , BUT NO BEER, NO ICEY COLD DRINKS, WHAT I DO, SHOTS OF, TEQ , VODK, WISK, OR JUST GLASS OF RED WIN, IS OK FOR ME , I DON"T WANT TO SAY TO STAY BEHIND, ENJOY, NO MATER WHAT, ENJOY YOUR LIFE;;;;;

I find that I can only drink beer once or twice per month. It numbs my stomach when I'm drinking (the prednisone started causing ulcers), and the next day, my diarreha is worse. I do find though that I miss beer, and that I enjoy it so much, it's worth it.

I'm waiting for Superbowl...and saving my tummy for that! Maybe have a little Blue Moon or Shock Top....

As for Diet Coke, I have cut down on that, and I miss that too. I do believe that it was hurting my tum as well. I don't think that I could ever quit it, but I have cut way down.....
