Yep Remicade will make your hair fall out. It happened to me after the 3rd infusion but when I asked my nurse she said she had never heard of that happening before!!!

But try not to worry ( I know that's hard because I cried for about a week when it happened to me), it will grow back and you don't lose it all, it just thins out. It only happens for a while and once your system gets used to the Remicade it will stop.

Thank-you! Yes, I have been quite worried. I'm thankful that my system will adjust to the hair loss. Thank god I have really thick hair!

i've experienced that as well, but my guess is maybe the dehydration and possibly low iron. have you been checked for anemia? I became extremely anemic and tired because of UC and the blood loss.

Lots of meds can cause this. I have it from taking warfarin. It's shocking at first cuz you seen this handful of hair when you wash it. But it's more a thinning thing and it does grow back and for me, it seems to thin in spurts, not all the time.

It's not funny, but I was just about to ask if anyone in our group has experienced any hair loss. In the past two weeks, I've experienced quite a bit of thinning overall.

I've had a cosmetology license since 1987, so there are some things that I do know. I know that medication stays in your hair for as long as you have that strand of hair. If your hair is 6 inches long, it's approximately one-year old. (If it grows 1/2 an inch per month).

The prednisone could be affecting your hair, (now). Dehydration, or all of the effects that the disease has been causing your body.

I have not been on Remicade, but I am on high doses of prednisone. I believe that in my case, this med, severe dehydration, the stress it's caused my body, the other stress in my life, and the lack of sleep, is causing my hair to thin.

My hair did this six years ago, after a bad car accident, and I began having severe migraines. At that time, I used a special shampoo for thinning hair (NOT ROGAINE!), and I took pre-natal vitamins. This time though, I'm afraid to take any sort of vitamins, as it could add to my stomach issues.

I guess in my long story, I wanted to let you know that you are not alone, and it might not be just one med. It could be just all that your poor body has been through....hang in there!

Yes, it is the Remicade. That was actually the first thing that the doctor mentioned to me as a side effect. It is true that the hair loss does slow and if you have long hair it just seems more prominent. Don't worry it does lessen once your body adjusts.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR COMMENTS. I've been so upset with my recent hair loss. I was finished with the latest round of prednisone last July and the hair loss started about September and hasn't stopped. I'm now trying something which is supposed to stimulate the scalp and thus strengthen the roots.

Admittedly this happens every time I get on/off prednisone and the hair doesn't completely grow back. So this time I've been worried.

My hair is really falling out now.
I'm wondering if stress has anything to do with it, other than the Remicade?

I think CD in general can cause this to happen plus I have read that Remicade can be a cause too.

Well, my hair falls out a lot too. I have lots of it so I am not worried yet, but goodness I might go bald at this rate. I am on Prednisone, Humira and Asocal. My docotr said it could be from the Predinisone, but most likely just from the "stress" of the disease. Between the Prednisone double chin and my hair falling out I don't feel very cute. Maybe "vanity" is my lesson in all of this???

So, I've recently been reading about Telogen Effluvium hair loss, and it says it is basically due to being chronically ill for sometime.
It isn't permanent, and your hair does grow back. It is basically a shock to the system from being so ill, and being on certain medications, such as prednisone.
