He could just be hyperactive or used to get attention a certain way. I was hyperactive and my parents medicated me...which I now know was wrong & lead to my discovery that stimulants for me work for about a week then my body adapts to them & I'm back at square one or worse. The real cure for me was extreme physical exercise. In high school I ran track and swam on the school team.
Works wonders with my children Also taking things away like video games for improper behavior works great (after my son runs a 5k there is a world of difference). I would also pay attention to the foods administered. Mustard goes great with Broccoli :) Cut out soda and other sugary things from his diet. Also make sure bowels are regular & if not give more fibrous fruits and veggies. Probiotics are good for digestion too. Be your own doctor first then get many opinions.
Most of all be careful on how you give attention & make sure to capitalize on good behavior to reinforce it...at least until he is 25 years old :) That is around the time the frontal lobe finishes solidifying connections in males.
