I take advair 500/50 right now, and spriva, advair works well, but since i take both together can't really tell if spririva works or noy

Thank you for your response. Hopefully you have the tremors under control. The breathing is difficult enough without the added problems. I am presently taking Advair and a combination of Salbutamol and Atrovent. I did not find Advsair very helpful because I am unable to inhale the powdered medication. I understand thsaty it will soon be available with a better method od dispensing.

I don't understand this comment. My doctor tells me that Advair 500 and Advair 250 are exactly the same medication, only different doseages.

I mentioned in an earlier post about problems I'm having with lack of bladder control when I'm extremely out of breath. Mu doctor tells me that this is more likely a prostate problem rather than having anything directly to do with COPD. I had prostate cancer 12 years ago that was treated successfully with radiation. Now I'm concerned that the cancer may gave re-occurred. I should know in another few days whan the tests are back from the lab.

I'm glad you're getting your prostate checked out but I tried to climb stairs the other day and ended up extremely short winded and suffering a bladder control issue. I'm female so it's not prostate and I have heard other women complain about the same thing. Don't know about men, of course.

I have been taking Spiriva since May and find that it worked well for me in the beginning. I added Advair/250 but I seemed to have some problems with it. I am currently on Chantix for my smoking and I found out that one of the side effects is trouble breathing, so I think that is the problems with the inhaler problems for now. I was alos taking Sorataine for mt psorasis and that really made me short of breath - worse than when I was smoking and not aware of the emphysema. I stopped the Sorataine, but am still taking the CHantix in an effort to stop the smoking completely. I do about one or tow a say until the pack is gone and then go a week or so until I get another one. I know I need to quit completely, but one a day is better than the pack a day I used to do. Forty-three years of smoking is hard to let go of. Good luck.

More specific for Lloyd and Mamaloo, I posted something about that feeling of losing bladder control a while back . . . for me, when I get very short of breath, I sure do feel like my whole bladder is going to drop from my entire body and kerplop, right onto the ground. Perhaps you will feel more reassured to go to that post on "bladder control" and see just how many other people like us have exactly the same thing. Seems it's from the loss of breath, perhaps also not enough oxygen going to our muscles including those in the bladder that we feel like or even do lose control. I do hope this helps you both.

I had tried Spiriva three different times and the last my eyes became blurry and it actually dide nothing for my breathing. I note where a lot of people really benefit from it; guess I am not one. I note in an earlier post that someone claimed Spiriva was in place of Combivent --they are missing part of the drug.

I am using an all natural supplement since May that has relieved almost all of my symptoms 100%. I have had Fibro, probably nearly all my long (50+) life, was diagnosed in 1986, disabled in 1997 and had to leave the work force, and just have been miserable with it as have so many others. I am currently on this supplement, and I feel blessed to have found the relief I have, and only hope it continues. I will look into the oil as well. Where do you get it? I started using Spiriva about a year or so ago. It was a god-send, but I found that I would get a "gripping" feeling in my lungs...kinda like cats clawing at my lungs. Doctor had me back off to using it just every other day, and it seems to work well. It helped me feel like I wasn't trying to breathe through a water-logged sponge.

I have been on spiriva about 2 years.I hardly have any infections and my usage of cortisone has dropped dramatically.I think I have only had it twice.

I also take seretide and bricanyl but that is minimal as well.

I think it is great.

I am one that has tried it a few times to no avail but have heard that in Europe they are sometimes using it twice a day. Wonder if that would improve the effect of it?

I have been on Spivira for over a year now along with Symbicort at the same time. I feel it has helped. My Specialist told me that it was a must to take it and not to miss it as it was the most important med you can take.

I have not taken spiriva. I just wanted to comment on combivent. One of Lloyd's posts talks about combivent being discontinued. I am on combivent and just recently got a refill. I was just curious about it being discontinued. Anyone have any input??? thanks JoAnn

I've been on Spiriva for 3 months and its gave me new lease of life.Went for my review on it last week & i'm now up to 72% before the Spiriva it was 52% so good news on that.
