My heart goes out to you because employers can be mean.
I keep my 02 hidden behind the safe and customers have no idea its even there. Its there ready if i need it
Just try to do what you can and get some exercise.
It DOES help divert the mind from your troubles
I do not know what type of work you do, but I can not understand this, unless you were using it and customers complained, even tho that is so wrong.
I am sorry this happened to you. Go to human resourses at once and tell them you are filing for un employment and then go do it.
If you were let go over something that was not your fault, they have to let you do that.
I would love to be able to work, and my o2 container be d-------e. It is part of me now, and if the employer knew this, and let me take it to work, he can not legally let me go for this reason.
Your life is not over honey. Also after you see pulmologist, apply for medicaide because you are not insured and have no income, so you should be eligible. Also call social security and apply for SSI , security supplement income for the poor or disabled, or folks with no income.
Please keep us informed as to what is going on with you.

Were you part of a layoff or specifically targeted for termination? I you are the only one, it would be good to get a copy of the paperwork and either challenge the layoff or go to the Tennessee labor board. You can't just lay someone off because of a disability that does not affect their job performance. If these people were dumb enough to write down your disability as the reason they must be dumber than a stump.
If they eliminated your job position and try to hire someone doing the same job under another name(including temp services), that is also against the law.
Another option is If you had company disability insurance taken out of your paycheck, apply for that as well. All it takes is a letter from your current doctor that you are unable to work due to COPD starts that ball rolling. Most corporate disability plans automatically apply for SSDI for you, as that reduces their liability payout requirements
So don't give up hope, there are a myriad of options to explore...
Hugs,
Dennis
I have a few regrets in my life and one of them is that I avoided Litigation
now I look back and think why I choose instead to feel sorry for my self.
Few times when I just mention Litigation I became winner.
Go please and take your rights and show bastards that they committed vile and despicable crime because they think that they can .
I employ lady with O2 tank ,since I have emphysema as well. She is new at work and will learn everything very soon. Some other workers got upset and I told them I Don't Give A Flying Fig for your opinion, she is here to stay and make sure to be extra nice to her.
Take care, please show us all that you are winner and everybody with
COPD will support you and that is a huge number of people.
Denny they were smart enough to put down lack of work. I am the 3rd person in 3 years with health issues that's been let go. I have contacted an attorney that will help file for disability. In the end they have to answer to their maker for what they do. I have a friend that is still there and will let me know if they put someone in my position.
All the thanks in the world to each of my new friends here, I pray for each of you daily.
Hugs to all.
that is good news about your 02 percentages getting better, but the dr shouldn't have stopped a 6 minute test as disability goes on daytime 02 needs of your 02 dropping below 90% in 6 minutes
2 1/2 minutes may have made that difference.
i know that each minute i exercise adds a toll.
hopefully if you keep improving though you won't need to worry about that
sorry about your idiot employer ((((HUGS))))
Take a chill pill, and cool your tool. Sit down, close your eyes, take a deep breath or two, and most of all, let your thoughts drift away from that ugly diagnosis, and show it that you are much stronger than it is! I know the dark cloud of fear, personally, but as long as you can be as cheery as you possibly can be, you will notice the clouds slowly parting and the glorious sunlight will be peeking its brilliance once again! You are an awful lot stronger than you think you are. Remember this: you are not alone! Though we all hate it seeing you here. But at the same time, we're all so very glad you found us! Welcome, with open arms to our warm, caring, and supportive family! Jim
One more thing, I am appalled, like everyone else, that your job was terminated because of your disability! Since you are an American, I don't think W.Va. has ceded from the U.S. yet, but if it can be proven, you have a claim based on the Americans With Disabilities Act. You can not be terminated, nor can your job be eliminated due to your disability! Why, that's almost as blatant as telling you that you're fired because of your gender, or the color of your skin!
IMHO You have a valid discrimination lawsuit. Now, if you can only find an attorney willing to take your case on contingency. In other words, if the courts rule in favor of your claim, The lawyer takes a percentage of the award, and y'all go away happy campers!
If you don't win, the attorney gets nothing, unless he can get his fee from your ex employer somehow!
Also, contact your local Social Security office by telephone, explain what happened, and file for SSDI (Social Security Disability benefits, and also file for unemployment.
AND: CONFIRM YOUR DISABILITY, COPD, BY THE PULMONOLOGIST you're going to see.! He/she will have to fill out the SSDI Medical Claim form anyway!
Good luck and God be with you Sunny! Jim
BTW: I'd tell you what I would do to your former employer, as it states under this reply box:
'in adding this comment, I silfoxx2002, do promise to be nice."
You life is not over you are just going through some real challenging crap and as tough as it is now you still have so much to live for be it in a different way. We humans don`t take to change very kindly but we do adapt so hang on in there. Hugs x x x
Sorry about your job loss. However, you need to pick your battles. I was in a similar situation with being let go in a situation where I surmised the reason. The company's reason didn't make sense to me. I caution you against spending too much energy, anxiety, frustration trying to fight "city hall." You can only guess at why you were dismissed; the company. I'm sure has covered themselves. Chances are great that there's no win for you there.
So I suggest you re-think your priorities. Mine would be family, health, health insurance, unemployment benefits, new job. Your young so there's lots of choices ahead for you. Take care!
