Hi, Welcome to our group. Your question does not say much, so I have to assume you need oxygen for your self.
If this is the case, a doctor would have had to say so, and would be the best bet for questions on assistance second to DennyGene;s websites which are great.
Also, most medical providers (o2 providers,) have an assistance plan and most hospitals have social workers to help .
So not knowing exactly what or why you are asking, I hope some of us helped!!! Feel free to ask or comment anytime. We are a friendly , caring group.

ATO..................please tell us a little more and I bet someone here can help ya:):) I have no insurance and I have a o2 concentrator at home..............costs us $85 a month:(

But without knowing your circumstances, kinda hard to say.

FIRST: I needed a doctor's prescription for oxygen; how many liters, and how often.
Then, your doctor can call it in; or you can research oxygen suppliers in the area you live.
Next; find out what insurance the oxygen supplier accepts; and if they have assistant programs for those that are low income.

First let me say thank you for all your responses. I haven't had much time to check back here till todayas you will soon read. My mother Is on oxygen now after having a icd-pacemaker put in...within a week one of the leads was perforating her heart so they changed the lead out...with a week of that the pocket got infected so the took it completely out. She had a wound vac for 3 weeks, IV antibiotics and a cardiac vest. All of which I learned to do for her. Luckily she lives with me and my husband. She has congestive heart failure. She is 55 and recently on disability but not supplemental ssi. So we have 2 tanks and a trolley to go to the doctor with and a concentrator at home. Luckily we got at least a month free because just the initial setup up was $600. She is on 3.5L and those tanks don't last maybe 2 hours if we are lucky. I was hoping to look into a portable concentrator but needy meds doesn't have anything. We live in Texas and the only place I can find that has free or low cost assistance is in Philadelphia. ..and you have to be in their state. I emailed The American Lung Association and still have not received a reply. Thank you again...and I'm sorry my question was so short.

Do you have Lincare there? I get my concentrator from them and they have an assistance program. There was no set up fee. I pay 10.00 a month for mine. The Dr. gave me the prescription. I live in Virginia and went to Florida where mine broke down and they had one there within 10 minutes. Worth a check, hope you find one for her. Good Luck.

Have you checked to see if she qualifies for medicare or medicaid? You might have the social worker at the hospital help you out there also. I get mine from American Home Patient in Waco, or Temple. I do not know where you live, but if her doctor wants her onO 2, he should know a place that wold help, if not the social service worker would.

lincare is the biggest company that i know of for 02---and like i said they had a "financial help" form that i filled out that helps me.
i saw you mentioned you want a "portable" concentrator.
there is a topic on the board here recently about portables & none that i saw have "continuous flow" over 2 L so that wouldn't work for your mom. (dennis put a link also that shows all the different ones & gives the information on them---scroll down for the ones that have BOTH pulse mode & continuous flow)
also does your mom need continuous flow when she is awake?
there are "pulse" meters for the daytime/taveling tanks that just give the person the burst of air needed on inhale---i have that for during the day & it makes my tank last twice as long.
at night i have to have continuous flow, so i need a in home concentrator for that.

I can't use Lincare here in AZ under what I am on dull care.
ONLY the authorize provider for dura medical etc.
I wish I could use Lincare...they have liquid oxygen which is much easier to carry etc.
So if it is rue what I read above would be great. I have now turn 65 so I can change insurance companys so I might be able to get a better policy. which is hard to understand all this medical stuff.

Has anyone else face going from medicade /medicare to private insurance yet?

I will check out LinCare to see if they can help. She doesn't qualify for Medicare-too young and there is a 2 year waiting period after getting on disability and she doesn't qualify for medicaid. The social worker has helped witth some things...but not oxygen. I have most of her meds through Needy Meds or Walmart $4 program. I got her on charity assistance through the hospital but that doesn't count her doctors or professional fees like readings of xrays or ct scans. Her cardiologist bill has grown to over $11, 000 in 6 weeks and they still have to put the pacemaker back in. She is on continuous O2 at night during sleep. We are hoping that she won't need it after her next surgery. Thanks everyone.

Desertbee, No disrespect intended, but why would anyone want to go from a paid insurance program to a private one? Just speaking for myself, I am finally the age to get medicare, I worked hard for it and paid in to it all my life, so I am going to use it as much as I can!! So far, I have not paid out anything for oxygen, tubing, ect., (except what I buy online) and no co pays at hospitals, clinic, ect. This may change soon with all the other changes, so I might be speaking to soon!! lol
ATOWIFEOF, I do hope you can find some help for your mom. I do not know if Lincare is in Texas, it very well may be, if so I hope they do good by you and are able to help.

i also am in need of financial help to get oxygen for me,doctor cant finad anybody who will cover the cost for me,i am unable to work anymore cuz of multiple health issues,no insurance cuz no job and nebraska doesnt have obama care or any insurance for folks wit no income,i am trying to get disability and social security but i need oxygen now,i need help but cant find any,cant get medicare in nebraska till i get disability.
