Does anyone think that using the nebulizer about every two hours is using it too much? It comes with unit-dose vials of 2.5 mg/3mL. I've only been using one vial but just switched to two and it seems to help me better. I'd ask my doctor but he's away on holiday for the week. And, that's another strange thing, I alway seem to get sick on Sunday and holidays for some reason when nobody is around. Strange? Or maybe it's just one of those things. Thanks all.

This isn't really bipolar related but there is never anyone on the parenting groups, this is the most active group I've been in.My 6yr old son has really bad seasonal allergies and they're in full force right now. He gets a terrible cough; he coughs all day and all night, making it hard for him to sleep, and his nose runs.I've tried every allergy medicine, OTC and RX, and none of them affect his...

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...
Most of the meds- ( albuterol, etc.) are suppose to be used 3-4 times a day. In an acute state I've been told to use it more frequently but a standard every two hours seems a bit much and a risk for a bunch of side effects... just my opinion...
Do you have a consulting nurse or does your Dr. have someone covering his practice? I think I'd call if you are having to use a neb Q2 hours for relief.........

Does your medical program have a "ask a Nurse " feature while your Dr. is gone?
Mind tells me he wants me to use it at least twice a day. I don't use it only when I am having trouble breathing. It makes me caugh a lot.
My doctor tells me that is what it is suppose to do? I guess get the junck out of my lungs.
Well don't do what I do, but do what lisa says and get a hold of someone even an ER.
I'm surprize there isn't a doctor on call to cover your doctors calls.
But then again I get the recording that says, "if this is a emgency call 911." Here?
I guess it all depends where you live and who your doctor is I guess?
"If needed" are probably the key words there....
I only use it once a day when not too bad....more on bad days.
Take care and God Bless.
That said, I suspect that your symptoms are not being well controlled, and that you probably need other medications, inhaled, or otherwise. And if you are coughing up mucus that has a color to it, such as yellow or green, then you have an infection that needs to be treated.
One other thing I should mention. I don't know if this is common or not, but several years ago, I got into a situation where I needed my albuterol nebulizer much more often. And then it seemed like it wouldn't do me any good, and that I had to "recover" for a bit after using the neb. What was happening was that I was hyper-inflating while I was using the neb. My pulmonologist made sure I had sufficient inhalers on hand, and then he had me stop the neb completely. I was completely amazed, because for about 2 weeks I felt like my chest was "deflating!" The muscles in my chest wall could finally relax, and I was breathing better than ever. I stayed off the nebulizer for about 2 years, but had to resume using it this past year. But now I'm very careful not to routinely use it too much.
If you are seriously having breathing problems and your doctor is not available, go to the ER, and have them check you out. Hope you feel better soon.
