OH it would be great if these doctors could come on our forum, and sit at out family table and learn a few things. I have a lot of times gone to my doctor and repeated things I learned here, and proved to be true.,,, Pickle juice is ok... What it does Val is keep the water in your tissues so you do not get dehydrated,m if you have low saline levels, the water you drink just goes on thru and none stays in your tissues. Have doctor check that on your husband, but you need the saline to keep water in your tissues, and pickle juice does the trick...

pickles are high in salt.
"electrolite" balance is very important; by chance is your husband on a salt restricted diet?
salt & potassium need to be balanced out. a simple blood test can read this.
my mother was hospitalized 3 times & the last almost killed her because doctors told her to cut out salt & she is like me and did NO salt. (the woman even found salt free peanut butter & ate meals on wheels that restrict salt)
low salt will finally affect the brain and has symptoms of altzhiemers.
i am in no way saying to go against your dr orders, but it may be time to have bloodwork done to check electrolite levels.
BTW the more water she drank the more it washed the salt out of her system.
(i have found that lack of 02 is related to joint pain)
the pickle juice works, but sounds nasty tasting to me. my mother had to drink a gatorade a day & started (lightly) salting her food & she never was hospitalized again)
this is my experience only, but i do hope you get your husband a dr app soon as this should be checked with a simple blood test.
When I was a teenager the saying was that if you smoked pot pickle juice would give you a clean piss test. Never tried it but I have always liked a wee bit of dill pickle juice. I hate pickles of all flavors but will drink the juice.
When I get annoying cramps and the occasional spasm, I just take Citracal and a little extra hydration. Usually gone in under an hour.
Lucky because if I had to drink pickle-juice - I'd still be cramping.

Drink may be misleading because all I do is just take a sip and wait a few minutes and if needed then I take another sip and that usually does it.
I have a hiatal hernia and when I am having an attack of that I chew almonds or you can use almond paste.
Look , late at night when all these things seem to happen, you pull out all of the natural things that you can remember reading about because the pain in the chest and back is not going to wait till morning. Seriously, What I have told you does work for me and that is all that I can say for sure.
I use the potassium pills. They seems to at least cut way down on the number of them I get. I'd just have to hurt if I had to drink
pickle juice. LOL
Thanks again x x x
