Emphysema is characterized by loss of elasticity of the lung tissue, destruction of structures supporting the alveoli and of capillaries feeding the alveoli. Both have symptoms that include shortness of breath, among other respiratory troubles. If you are a COPD or Emphysema sufferer, join...

I am determined to get my health back, ( I am sick of being sick !!)
I had gotten so bad that I was out of breath just standing up.
So I decided to pull the plug, I had lost all hope ever getting better and did not want to continue living,
So i told my son what my intentions were, and after a 3 hr conversation
he talked me into trying again to get my health back.
He is very much into health and natural foods, he also believes strongly in meditation.and that the body can heal itself of many things if we know how to tap into it.
4 days after a diet change, some deep breathing using the diaphragm
to fully empty the lungs,(the lower part of the lungs) and 2 breathing treatments of DMSO in a nebulizer i can now walk to the kitchen and back just a little short of breath.
and lowered my 02 setting from 5L PM to 3 LPM
It doesn't sound like much but I am thrilled to be able to do this.
I don't know just what part of this is helping or maybe its the combination of all of it..
I would love some input from my friends here...please read the following.
and visit the website, I am curious if anyone has heard of this or
Tried it,
Also would like to know if anyone has tried any of the suggested treatments,
and if so how with much success,
I know we have been over some of this before but we also have new people in our group who may not have heard any of this,

Hydrogen Peroxide is an amazing remedy for so many ailments, including as a natural COPD treatment. Many people prefer to inhale it for
this disease. Simply put a 3% solution in a nebulizer and inhale it or drink it. H2O2 baths are effective as well. www.dfwx.com/h2o2.htm has
food grade hydrogen peroxide for sale, and plenty of details on how to use it for internal health.
MSM is an excellent COPD treatment for helping to strip accumulated bio-films from the lungs. Start with 1 tsp. 3 times a day with plenty of
water. Gradually increase to 1 Tbsp. 3 times a day, mixed in plenty of water.
DMSO mixed fifty percent with water in a nebulizer, is reported to be very effective COPD treatment for reducing build ups in the lungs which
helps to greatly reduce COPD symptoms.
Colloidal Silver is reported to be very helpful for COPD patients, especially in those suffering from chest infections. Patients claim that by
using it in their nebulizer as soon as their sputum changes from clear to yellow, it keeps the infection from advancing any further.
Virgin Coconut Oil is reported to be a big help to those with COPD. Simply by taking a tsp. or two with meals, or in tea or room temperature
juice, it's said to thin the mucous making it easy to cough up, and it opens the nasal passages as well.
Thyme is very beneficial as a simple tea that you just sip, for those suffering from COPD symptoms. It is helpful for many COPD symptoms,
including upper respiratory infections.
Turmeric is a very effective home remedy for bronchitis, one of the main contributors of COPD symptoms. Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder
should be administered with half a glass of milk, two or three times daily. Or take it in capsules. It acts best when taken on an empty stomach.
Other herbs that can be used as a natural COPD treatment, are Garlic, Licorice, Indian Tobacco (Labelia), and Marshmallow. Probably the best
expectorant, which will loosen the mucus and make it easier to cough up is Eucalyptus. A great way to avoid having to use COPD oxygen, is
to add a few drops of the essential oil of Eucalyptus to a humidifier, and just breathe in the air, especially when your having trouble breathing.
Many COPD patients swear by this simple technique.
The Elemental Miracle along with a few of these other remedies should put you well on your way to relief from COPD. As serious as it is,
COPD is naturally healed everyday, although it does require time and patience. Of course quitting smoking is standard, but no matter, follow
these remedies, and do some research on your own. All of these remedies fit well within COPD guidelines. This is holistic health at it's best, as
what does conventional medicine have to offer for COPD? Really.

As someone who has been in respiratory failure well over a dozen times - and is alive to tell about it - I am pretty darn pleased with conventional medicine.
This is not to say that there isn't a place for naturally-based treatments. But any such treatments should be fully discussed with your doctor before they are attempted.
If there was a cure for COPD, you can bet the bank one of the big pharmaceutical companies would be marketing it.

With the exception of the hydrogen peroxide, I liked most of what I saw in your article. I am constantly looking for alternate treatments that might improve this condition.
I try mainly to have a well balanced diet, and add foods that either help support the immune system, or are natural anti inflammatories. When I can't include them in my diet, I will try supplements.
I also try to stay active, even if it means getting SOB. I actually push myself sometimes. This works good for me because I am otherwise in great health. It probably wouldn't be a good idea with a weak heart.
Just some of my ideas, good luck, and stay positive.
Gary
sorry but i agree with the others that we have all seen these things & this could be very misleading to someone.
By this I mean using the knowledge of genetics, etc. to have our bodies heal itself. This certainly won't be available in my lifetime but someday I believe this will be possible.
COPD is not naturally healed by anything that has been proven. Herbs may help relieve some of the symptoms but WILL not cure the holes in my lungs.
I do think that you will realize eventually that there is not anything that will replace the use of oxygen. In fact, this is the best thing that COPD patients have going for us.
Interesting but really misleading.
Dennis
sorry i didin't want to insult you in any way.
i am happy you are getting such great results from whatever you are doing.
i don't know if you have checked in your area to see if you have "pulmonary therapy" available;
i don't have it in my area, but it is a hospital/dr based program that teaches the pursed lip breathing, excercise, and i believe tip on eating right that medicare or most insurances will pay for a certain amount of weeks or times to do.
maybe others that have done it can tell you more about it.
i have a tendency to "overdo" things and then i end up making myself worse sometimes so i always check anything with my dr first.
i think it's great that you are feeling better and i do hope you talk to your dr also. many herbs and things can have adverse affects with some medications.
(however= i did have to laugh at the hydrogen peroxide thing because that is true story about making my dog throw up that way :)
Caitsmom,
I did not suggest this was a cure. from the dotted line down it was cut n past from the site address at the bottom of the page.
I just pasted the info for reader convenience,
2nd I am not advertising in any way the product listed or products listed in any way.
I was just asking if anyone has knowledge of it?
As for the other treatments I am just looking for some input on such stuff as Eucalyptus in a humidifier as a expectorant ECT..,
Not advertising not suggesting cures , just seeking info..
Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. Sorry I didn't think it would be seen in that way. I am the last person to sell anything in any way.
I figured this was probably another snake oil remedy by someone preying on the needy, but you never know if you dont ask around.
So please dont throw any food at me...:)
and I see no way to edit my post.
Gary
That said :) I too am happy you are feeling better thus far Dave and would like to know what diet changes you made. Jarca makes a very good point about interactions of herbs and such with meds, so ANY trials should be under the eye of a Dr who works with both.
I have seen the Hydrogen Peroxide thing all over the place
...um...not in my lungs thanks. Great spot cleaner for rugs tho!
I don't see where any harm would come from trying the eucalyptus. I used to work with a woman who would just take a leaf of it and rub it between her palms and inhale to help with congestion.
To better health for all :)
Many of us here are on medicare & are barely holding on financially.
It pays to cautious.
I don't believe that you are trying to sell anything but the DS people do get a little picky about that and I do understand that they have restrictions the same as any business.
I have tried a lot of remedies for some health problems but I am somewhat cautious about what I try regarding my lungs. I was serious when I said that supplemental oxygen gives me the most comfort as the inhalers work for some and not others. Everyone needs oxygen at some point and I am there.
I am very appreciative that you and others look for something to share. I did the same thing when I was more active and less down the road on this gosh awful trip.
Take care all and enjoyed reading all of the comments..
I am sure that many of us search out and research alternate treatments for this condition. It is important to look at any potential treatment from many angles. You can usually find articles that will point out the pros as well as the cons for any claimed treatment. you should read as many as possible, then use your better judgment before trying any. As I have said many times the first look at hydrogen peroxide seems compelling, but after researching more articles it is downright scary.
But by the same token there are many drugs that my doctors want me to take that are just as scary, and in many cases unnecessary. I do the same kind of research even if it is prescribed by a doctor.
Just saying, Gary
