My sister has COPD. She is on oxygen 24/7. She is still smoking and wants to quit. She is beating herself up badly because she cannot quit. She can't do anything except sit, watch TV, and sleep. I had a Chantix starter kit, which was prescribed to me. I ended up going cold turkey and didn't use the Chantix. Do you think it would be alright for my sister to use the Chantix with having COPD?

Just stoped smoking on chantix it.s the best thing not putting any nicotine back in your body it does make your stomach upset a little I stopped in jan after 54years and have copd and emphasyma and couldn't stop now my lungs are horrible but i,m not smoking all the other stop smoking stuff keeps giving you nicotine chantix makes you just not want a cigarette i tought It was wounderful so please try it and good luck

I was just worried that with her having COPD so bad that maybe it might be harmful, but it sounds like it won't hurt her. Thanks foe replying.

I had quit on Chantix. I was quit for 3 months. But the Chantix was terrible for me. I had very, very bad dreams. I could not sleep through the night and felt very anxious all the time. I called my internest about it and he took me off the meds right away. It took weeks for it to get out of my system. It was terrible. I started smoking again.

I've heard that it works fine for a lot of people and a lot of people have complained about it.

I wish your sister all the luck in the world with her quit.

I have COPD and EMPHESEMA, and still smoke, a cigarette called ECHO, which are not supposed to have additives added. My 28 year old granddaughter got the Chantix for her and her husband, even if you use them, the doctor told them, the brain does not recognize the nicotine, which helps to quit smoking. I really don't know, as the only thing that ever helped me was prayer.

I am a smoker with copd and my doctor gave me a prescription for CHANTIX. I am taking the pills and I hav't smoked in 3 days and I was TOTALLY ADDICTED TO CIGARETTES (over 2 packs a day) I woul recommend to everyone. To me it is a miracle drug

i say have her try it! anything that might help make it easier for her is worth the try. i understand where she's coming from! it is such a terrible cycle we get in. we can't do anything, because we can't breath, and so we sit. when we sit, we light a cigarette. that is the "habit" part. if that chantix is supposed to help...go for it! and find something for her to do with her hands! good luck to her.

While I did quit with Chantix, I would like her to check with her doctor before starting. There may be some reason he may not recommend it for her. If she is interested just have her ask her doc first. good luck to you both, hugs and prayers also Jeannie

    Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax.     My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
