Hi everybody, thank you for sending messages of hope, as well as all the hugs. I have so needed this group. You have already helped me enormously. I have been having so much pain in my rib area. Under my armpits, and under my breasts. I thought it was trapped air and I have been breathing with pursed lip, but it won't go away. 6 days now of constant pain. What can I do? Thanks Chelle

I'd be seeing my doc. Symmetrical chest pain is not what I've experienced prior to and during a lung infection, but any chest pain is nothing to mess with...

Chelle, I would agree with Denny make your doctor aware of the issue. I have some pain in my chest, but that is the result of the terrible coughing fits I have from time to time, But be assured, I have talked to my doctors about it. It is always better to error on the side of over checking than not. Take care, Bill

Thanks guys, but I took my o2 off and all the terrible pain went away. Just like that, so I am wondering if my o2 was too high for me. Dr. had me on 3 liters at rest and 5 liters when up and about. Some how the o2 was on 5 and I was sitting. Could that have happened?

Chelle, I do not understand why your active o2 is so much higher than your resting 02, but if that is how your doctor ordered it, .....

But to have a sitting rate of 5lpm, to me seems to much. You are not expelling any with activities, like walking or something.

Chest pain can be caused by a number of things, it is something that needs to be checked out asap. I have chest pain most of the time, but mine is from coughing, and also my lungs seem to get :sore" the more I do arm weights exercises, or lung function breathing.

the area you describe sounds like the "plueral wall" area that surrounds our lungs...
i would get a dr app. because sudden inexplicable pain around my lungs is usually a sign that i have an infection in my lungs.

ps. i have to turn up my 02 sleeping, active & if i travel to high elevations,
just sitting in my chair i can turn it down, but i have never experienced pain from my 02 when i've "forgotten" to turn it down.
definitly something to check with your dr

chelle; have you been exercising or working hard that you could have pulled a muscle (i assume if you were wearing the 5lpm you were being pretty busy/active)---even if you have pulled a muscle or something i would see a dr

That was my bet also jarca. Pleuracy will just about kill you. Like a horrible chest cramp and breathing is horrible.
I have never heard what happens if a person ODs on 02. I'd like to know if that is possible and what are the symptoms and adverse reactions. 5 LPM resting sounds very high.
