Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
I was just wondering, especially after reading Fezzy's last discussion entry, how many of you are having "issues" with your insurance covering IVIG treatment? Cigna approved me for IVIG treatment in 11/2008 but refused to authorize treatment last November. My then doctor actually "fired" me as a patient because he refused to deal with my insurance. My current doctor has been struggling with them for the past two months.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? I know my IVIG treatment got approved pretty quickly, within weeks if I'm not mistaken. My infusion place is handling all that including the financial help I'm getting to pay for my out-of-pocket. They are quite wonderful!
Isn't the new medical bill passed in Washington going to do away with lifetime maximums? I remember reading something about it, it may not start until 2014 or something but that's only a few years away.
