Since I was little I've struggled with a red-green color deficiency. I accepted this diagnosis just fine until I got older and realized that I just can't remember colors.
There are colors I get right far more often than others... pure yellows and navy blues are my strongest colors. Reds, Greens, Purples, Browns, Oranges etc... I get wrong almost every time but never wrong in the same way. There's no consistency to the way I screw up my colors. One day I'll get a color right... the next day I'm way off.
The way I was taught was that if I learned a color to be a certain way.. like I see Red the way I see Red.... then I should always know it's that red. But this is not the case with me. I'll see the same Red Object in my office every day of my life and sometimes it looks pink... other times it's a rich red.
I heard of an issue where people can't remember faces. That's how I feel. I can look at a tree and I know it's supposed to be green... but where is the green? Someone asks me what color that tree is.. and I say green... but I have no idea where to start.
Once I owned a Dodge K car... it was a brown car. I owned it for years. And I lost my parking spot one day. A friend was near by so I asked him to help be find my "green" car. He had no idea... I went right by it but I was looking for a green car and went right by my own car. I did NOT see it the same way I had always seen it that day. Almost like my stress of losing the car made me lose focus of the color.
Someone please point me in the right direction here. Google shows nothing. Eye doctors stick a color chart in front of me and ask me what numbers I see and then they go no further with it.
There's no way I'm in the same color blind box they try to me in.
Thanks,
Chris
