well, yesterday my mom and I went and talked to the local college in our area and I got in but I had to take some papers up to them. When we got there and talked to someone, they said that they couldnt do any thing bc I didnt have a mississippi ID, its still a TN ID, and I didnt have a transcript from a school that I didnt go to for 6 weeks. We left and went to another school in the area and talked to them and had no plan to sign up but we did and I am not going to be doing busniess admin, but i will be doing medical billing and coding. I never thought that I would be doing that, I thought it would always be business admins, or photography. We start in 2 months going 5 days a week 8-12. My boyfriend wants to go and i am all for that, but he wants to go when we are going or at night. which would mean i would have to find a daycare for my son and he wouldnt be able to work but 2 days a week and that wouldnt make it for us, we are a family of 4 and there is my mom and shes working but not making much right now. So now i am torn on what to do. I told him that i would call and tell them i cant go and that way he can go and then when he gets out than he can go to work at night. i feel like when i try to do something right, it gets pulled out from under me and i have to step back from it and let someone else go while i stay back and just watch. i am not saying anything bad about him going to school, but i dont think that the three of us can go all at the same time with two small children, 7 and 2 and even with my 7 year old going into public school in the fall and i will be done by this time next year, but i just dont think that this is fair. Am I wrong for saying that? I just am lost and not sure what to do anymore. It hurts.
Most colleges offer daycare options. If not, then the state may pay for it if you are low income, or worse case scenario it is worth paying for it.
If he goes too then the amount of extra pellgrant and loan money by double dipping will more than make up for the cost of daycare. As long as it is during times where daycare is available.
Not bashing the boyfriend at all, and while both of you in school at once sounds easy, it is not. You really need to consider the finances of that. Yes, Pell Grants will help out but they won't pay for everything. Student loans should be the last option. Yeah, they make school easier but they make having a normal life after school very difficult. Unpaid student debt figures into car loans, house loans, and insurance premiums.
Maybe you could go first while he works/keeps kids and once you are done and employed, he can go. Then you could have a two income family with much less debt.
No he wasnt going to go with me when I was planing on going to the first school. He was in school before but didnt want to go anymore and dropped out of it and at that time I was in college and he said that I would finish and then he would go back after I got a job and was working for a few months to get the money saved up so that he could go back to school.
The onlone school was were I was at before and I wasnt doing any good there. I was not passing my classes and i couldnt get the help when i needed it with something i had to do. I was at the campus school before we moved to mississippi from tenneesse and it was going good for a few but after a while i was just not learning anything and failing everything and having to take classes over and over.

don't be ashamed to use public assistance programs. They are there to be used. Many young families in school use them. Remember you will pay back the tax dollars once you work anyways. It's not charity, in reality it's a loan. (they take it back out of your taxes soon enough whether you use it or not so you might as well use it)
