People who do drugs have lots of friends, and drunks have lots of friends, but as we grow smarter then those kinds of friends are not worth having.
I be friendly with most people, and usually I am friendly with everybody, but most people want some thing in return for being friendly, and that is very often where my healthier boundaries draw the line.
If you ever get one (1) or maybe two real friends that respect you and that you can truly trust, then that is as close to heaven on earth as anyone can truly get.
In my own findings and my own opinion of course.
So true
Xxx
I too am learning that as I start to draw my boundaries I have fewer friends. I now have only one girlfriend I truly trust, and that's a blessing just as Booky said. My husband is my other true friend and besides him are my little dogs. I get a little sad too sometimes because it would be nice to have a few girlfriends to go and do things with.
Thanks for sharing that Booky and everyone.
As soon as you become HEALTHY, it seems very hard to find healthy friends. The unhealthy ones only call ya when they need something from ya.
As far as doing things alone that won't be so sad, try doing things alone that make you laugh, like watching comedy movies! Call others if you feel like it. Otherwise, let others call you if they will.
I hate to go to the movies alone. When I do go, I am depressed as people go together in groups of friends or as couples. And I have no one to discuss the movie with afterwards. So I become more isolated, watching movies on dvd. I don't go out to dinner alone, as the restaurants are filled with groups of friends or couples. Shielding myself with a book stopped being trendy 20 years ago. so I either do take out or eat at home. Alone.
I'm glad people are enjoying their own company. I have lived alone for over 15 years and I can tell you: it sucks. And friends don't grow on trees. I find it harder & harder to meet likeminded people. Makes me realize there must be something wrong with me. Would be nice to go dancing. Would be nice to go out to dinner. But I do not feel like talking or dancing with myself, thanks. I do enough of that.
Good Luck.
But I must say that the name of that group is far more interesting then actually being in that group.
