Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. Just coming out of an abusive relationship. Looking forward to a me I haven't yet discovered.
Hugs.
I do not have a voice in this family and when they're not excluding me, they're either condescending to me or treating me as their punching bag. I am so tired of their judgment and how they talk "down" to me. I just want it to all go away... I speak up, only to get hammered back down. So, I get quieter and quieter out of self-preservation ... I want to disappear. All those "tapes" -- those internal voices -- are very much active and present and here, now, in the form of each person. I remember asking a therapist how to deal with the "old tapes" that are still running -- the live ones coming out of their mouths and their actions. I don't recall her answer ... I don't think she had one. I am so tired of fighting and talking back to these "voices."
Thanks for all your advice.
