Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...

It's really between you and your Higher Power. Your therapist should not become your higher power.
Dig deep you are probably stronger than you give yourself credit for. We usually are.
Best of luck to you during this time. Be kind to yourself!
Today, my best friend left on a 2 week trip and is incommunicado, as he is out of the country. We usually speak for over an hour every day. I always go into a bit of a downward slide & feel anxious over his leaving (even though he tells me many months in advance) ... fortunately I do not have panic attacks about it. I think it's because I know he's gotta come back to his job and his life here. He is not abandoning me. But he's very clear that he needs to "Unplug." And I don't blame him. I know I can be exhaustingly needy. And he has a job that's very demanding (he works 12 -14 hr days, with an hourly commute each way). I am happy for him that he can afford these trips. And just a tad envious that I can't go myself ;-)
As it is, he lives 14 hours away (we only see each other at Christmas for a few days). But, I have an unhealthy dependence on this 1 person. And I realize, by being here, that I am dealing with an Addiction of sorts.
So, while he is away, I'm going to detox. I have no choice as I can't reach him anyway. I'm going to get busy, taking care of things around here, which needed doing anyway. I'm going to reshift my focus and deal with all these piles of papers and clutter. Just like I did when I quit smoking.
This is a healthy way to distract myself and work out any frustrations that I experience throughout the day. Usually I stockpile them and then unload/vent to him ... well, now I have to find another way, perhaps a healthier way, to deal with the daily niggling things that irritate me or upset me. I hate that I do this to him, anyway. i've really gotta learn how to be a better friend.
Housecleaning. Who knew it can be so therapeutic? (Of course, we'll see what tomorrow brings when I wake up... I wonder if the vacuum will recognize me...) ... but it's a worthy goal :D
Little did you know, your post here is helping me tremendously. I hope you find ways to cope, too...
Thanks!
