Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. The friends that have disappeared aren't living rent-free in my head anymore. I've stopped expecting anything from them now. Since our friend's death and other happenings, things have dissolved. It's taken me about six months to stop the rumination and get past it, and I feel mostly ok about it now. I've moved forward from this.
One of the people called me yesterday to 'catch up.' I had slept in, so it went to voicemail. I called her back, which is generally pretty useless. She refuses to pick up and communication with this person is like a game of checkers or chess. I've dropped it. I don't think she actually wants to catch up, but probably thinks she 'should' since we were friends. I think the check in is more out of guilt or obligation. If I call she never answers, even to call her back. Some people have problems, her dating life and other relationships are in absolute turmoil, as I can only imagine. She and the other people were massively hard work. I've started making other friends and have forgotten them, so I'm not sure why she calls-it's not like she wants to talk to me anyway.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
For my younger acquaintances, I think this can be a game with some people. Like a power move. They call and if you don't answer, you get put on the back burner because their needs come first. Then they don't pick up the phone or call back because it is a power game. With friends like this, who needs enemies. Right now I have been limiting friendships which is not good in the long run. I got burned last year and last Spring and I need a break from my people pleasing stuff.
