Codependency Support Group
Codependency is defined as someone who exhibits too much, and often inappropriate, caring for another person's struggles. A codependent person may try to change, or feel shame about their most private thoughts and feelings if they conflict with the other person's struggles. If you are on a journey towards self-love, this support group is for you. Join us and find others...

I was curious about what people might think of this social media post. I was upset that she put "family" and "friends" in quotes. Am I making too much of this? It's true that we spend less time together, things have changed. I quit our hiking group because of too much conflict and drama, now I just hang with them about once a month or so. I have other friends and responsibilities. I put a polite response to the post but it really bothered me. It just feels like this person and this group needs SO MUCH. Our text thread is overwhelming and constant-constant contact. I don't like constant contact. I almost feel like this post is a backlash to the boundaries I set as I'm taking time for my own life. I was very angry when I saw it. I've been close to this person and have provided support to her, and vice versa, to be fair. Here is the post:
"Life is too short. Years ago we were all like family. Eveyone looked out for each other. We ate together and drank togeher, were worried about each other. We need to get back to this. We need to take care of each other instead of breaking each toher down. I'm going to bake a bet, that out of my "family" and "friends" that less than six will take the time to copy and post. Who are my six. I bet I'm shocked. "
I thought, really? I'm your "friend"? Wow. I thought, "you aren't getting enough out of this relationship?" What else am I supposed to do, FFS?
Am I reading into this? Curious to know others' opinions or if it's just me.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

She sounds emotional and she was venting or feeling lonely when she wrote this.
Meaning, it seems she is seeking attention. And it is not directed toward you, personally.
I can understand how you would feel, reading this. Do what you feel is right. I am thinking this is that needy person in that group you wrote about, from awhile back??
She was in a "mood" when she wrote it, from what I can remember about her (if it's that same person you wrote about awhile back). You are busy, You have other friends to see/talk to. You replied and now just try not to get upset by what she wrote. People post all kinds of things on social media.
I do not think this post was directed at just you, or anything. I'm sorry this is upsetting you. I would just give it some space and time.
If the goal is to become like family again, to eat and drink together, to share with each other, to build up rather than break down, how in the hell is a manipulative post going to accomplish this? Another thing, do you want to know how and why it used to "be like family"? It was because there was no social media and people spent time interacting one on one with others, instead of leaving inpersonal "cut and paste" messages on FaceBook, purely for garnering attention and likes.
