I'm so sorry! I would have gone to the party anyway and joked about the Shirley Temple curls. That sucks that you sat for 3 hrs and paid for a 'do that was a don't. So sorry, dear! You can't catch a break lately! Lesson learned--- no new stylists on party night!

Thanks Chronic! All she was supposed to do was curl my hair with a flat iron. I have long hair so it should have been easy. She said she had never curled hair with an iron before yet everyone else there does it all the time!!

I probably would have gone except I had not met anyone yet as it is my husband's new job and you know what they say about first impressions! I don't think Shirley Temple is the lasting impression I wanted to make!! LOLOL!

I am sorry that this happened to you, like Chronic said, I would have gone anyways and I would have made a joke about my hair, I don't know about you, but if I curl my hair (when I have it), as soon as I walk out and do a little walking the hair goes back to normal, no freaking curls stay on me.
I hope that you have another opportunity to go to a party with the hubby, maybe New Year's.... Hugs,

I am sorry about your day, You would think that going to go to get your hair done at the beauty saloon that they would know how to do it since that is the only thing they do.

Its is sort of like that Murphy s Law, now if you were not going anywhere it would of looked great but since you were they messed it up, just perfect. If you are anything like me I don't get the chance to go out much especially to a dinner that someone else cooked for me.

Oh...so sorry Boxer!! Ladies & our hair...the things we go through! My mom curled my hair like Shirley Temple every Sunday for Church when I was young. I had to sit still on Saturday nights while she rolled my long red hair in those pink spongy rollers. It was a 2 day process to get those banana curls:-) I am sorry they screwed up your hair. Next year you go & have a blast!!!!! Feel better.

It's not bad enough that we have to hurt all the time, but not to be able to get our hair done right on top of it!
And you are right, normal people don't understand that we don't have the energy to come back and sit again and do the whole process over.
That's why this is so difficult.
And it is difficult. Your question is so valid.
It seems like that question pops in my mind several times every day.
Going to a hair salon and trying to explain my self would not be something I would want to do.
Fortunately, I am also a hairstylist the(I worked in his 10 years before I started teaching)
So I can still cut my own hair.
As for your hair color, try to find something you can do at home, or have someone do for you at home.
You'll save a lot of money and you can get almost the same if not better results.
I had probably saved thousands and thousands of dollars in the last 35 years,doing it myself.
It's just a thought.
I guess it would be according to what kind of pain you have.

Jenny Sue, My mother used to curl my hair with those Pink foam rollers too..every sat, night. How funny. I slept in them with a big hair net or something.

My mother was a hairdresser and owned a couple of shops and I used to hate the smell of the old permanent solutions. At least the smell of skunks doesn't bother me today. This is the first year I couldn't put up outside lights so I can identify with the why is everything so difficult part. Hope you have a Blessed day.

i feel your frustration. i still get hit in the face at least once or twice a week with a reminder that i'm not like "normal" people. i've gotten used to it over time but it still gets to me.

my step kiddo's gradma took me shopping when i went outta town this week. we shopped from 8am till noon. and i'm in the most pain i've ever been in.

when i got back to the house i passed out and slept for 3 hours. that was too much for me. she asked hubby if i was sick and he said "yup has been for years now"

i can't even shop these days its crazy.

i don't want to take away from your exspecience by telling mine i just wanted you to know your not alone.

i am sorry this happened to you. bad enough it happened in the first place...but on the day of a christmas party no less! it has happened to me before, i left in tears but i didn't have the courage to call back and complain. take care! :)

Pauli, I have talked to the salon numerous times. I have had 3 different stylists since I have been there because they leave for one reason or another and I have told her I am ill and can they work with me. One of the girls would even come to my house if I couldn't get there! I love that but the girl I go to now can't do that. I do it myself at home once in awhile when I am too sick to go to the salon. My husband has to help me and I keep threatening to take a pic of him with the gloves on and doing the color and put it on FB!! He hates doing it but is a sweetie to help!!

rayfoof, don't I know it! Especially at this time of year when everyone is so busy doing things and enjoying all the family and holiday stuff. I had t do most of my shopping online.

I'm going to call the owner Tuesday when they reopen and have her put something in the computer. If she just would have told me at the beginning, I could have styled it at home myself. By the time I had sat for all that time, I was done. Anyway, lesson learned!

For all you guys who would have gone anyway, I think that's great. My last hair disaster was in 2001 when we had just moved and I had no idea where to get my hair done. It was for the Christmas party then too and I was literally laughed at. They whispered behind my back and I was NOT going to go through that again!

You mentioning your husband helping you color your hair and how you're going to take a picture of him with his gloves on reminded me of how I used the Perm my hair back in the eighty's.
Sometimes it was hard to do the back and I would make my husband do it. I had forgotten all about this I'm glad you reminded me.
