Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I think alot of times doctors have to take so many blood test because maybe and I am not sure but that the individual body might take in certain meds different and there is not set amount to give. It is all a bit of an experiment. I think another doctor might have to do the same things so I would not invest in any time looking for one unless there were other things your doctor was doing that you did not like.
Hopefully it will level out and all the test will stop to back to just annually.
I had complete bloods done when I went to my new doctor and he found my D was low and I was tired and no energy. He put me on 1,000IU a day and my energy increased and that horrid tiredness went away. I will get him to do another complete screen in a couple of months to see what my levels are on that and other things including liver and kidneys. When I start getting flat again I up the dose to double for a few days ans then drop it back. I have also tried to get more sun but there is none at the moment here.
I did read that your body regulates the vitamin D but if you can't/don't get enough (15 minutes full body - have fun with that one LOL) then you do need to take a good quality D to keep the balance right. But 500,000? That is a very high dose. I think I would be climbing the walls with that much.
I agree with some others, I would find another doctor (if you can) as this one does not give me much confidence that she knows what she is doing.
I asked my doc why my script was for D2 when I read that D3 is more easily absorbed. She assumed that's what they were giving me all along!

Stomach problems can, too.
Also, the over-the-counter form should be Vitamin D3. D2 isn't absorbed well.
The only other supplements I take are B12 and fish oil...when I remember.
But my D-2 levels were zero...undetectable; on the lab slip. The D-3 levels were slightly better at 7, and she had them check it twice, dragged me in for a repeat draw, with the exact same results. So, since this recent discovery; I've been prescribed 50,000IU of Vitamin D-2; and then will be on 800IU of Vitamin D-3 for 8 weeks, followed by monthly rechecks.
I'd hoped also that there'd be some improvement in symptoms, but as with vitamin deficencies, it takes a lot of time to build up a steady blood level, I've noticed nothing yet either :-(.
But also, the barometer has been making life miserable, but I have 2 awesome boys to cheer me up; only right now-I had to break down and ask my brother to help me out for a few days and watch them; the flare is kicking me senseless!!! ~:0)
I'm glad you have a wonderful brother to help out!
So, maybe we can do what everyone does and blame it on global warming???
One thing I do know is that once I started taking it I did get more energy back and felt a lot better. When I get my next full blood screen done I will get my Dr to add it to the list. At the moment he is concentrated on the A-fib and INR (clotting factor) test.
My opinion is it's gonna end up being the chicken vs. the egg question...JIMO....
