yeah JC you make sense. I started to watch it this morning and I had to turn it off. It is tragic and I didn't want to dwell on the pain all day. I've decided to turn it on every few hours for updates.

You are so right. I did turn it on for a few mins & had to turn it off because my stomach is still in knots over this. I have 2 boys in grade school & to even think something like this could happen breaks my heart. I am spending my day with no tv & just loving on my boys & being thankful for what I have...

And don't use the internet. There are so many stories floating around these news sites, and so many of them have wrong or incomplete information anyway.

I haven't watched TV all day. I'm watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation right now, and then Conor and I are making Gingerbread Cows. I think that's a better way to spend the day.

JC, I know you are right, but for some reason I felt guilty when I changed the channel to Christmas music this morning. This whole tragic event is just too hard to watch....it is absolutely heartbreaking.

While the parents and families of the young victims will still be in my thoughts and prayers, I will try to go on about my life as usual. Like you said, it serves no purpose to emerse ourselves in something we can do nothing about.

I finally got sleep last night and woke up confused, wondering if I had dreamt it. I can't help but turn the tv on and watch a bit- I keep expecting to hear someone burst out with the reason this happened. Yes, I am a dreamer. That's not going to happen. Just like it wasn't a nightmare.

I am trying to immerse myself in music and light hearted movies. For those folks who believe in prayer, as I do, all we can do is pray for the victims and families.

I had to play a DVD and turn the sound up loud to drown out the sound of news flashes that my DH was watching. It was making me so upset I was in tears.

Home Schooling is beginning to look like the best choice for both parents and children. No violence, or bullying either.

I did not turn on tv today until mystery hunters show was on around noon...it is a kids show and they were looking for lake monsters...LOL....I turned it off yesterday and tried to take a nap....I do not want the latest up to date information...next they will show pics of the kids and I will cry more....

Or watch it and remember that there are people out there hurting severely and they could use the prayers of those who aren't. Identifying and having compassion for others doesn't mean your personal pain will be unbearable.

Who knows that seeing those people, in all their pain, won't keep the next gunman from doing his deed?

kat, i don't think that was the point at all. we're being bombarded with misinformation and sensationalism that isn't helping anyone just getting ratings as well as ignoring all the other things that are going on in the world.

all the people involved in this tragedy are in my thoughts and prayers continually right now. choosing not to participate in the media mania does not mean anyone is turning their back on this at all.
