Hi guys.
I have been very busy looking after my aging parents. My mother unexpectedly got sick at 78 and is in the hospital hanging onto her life. My dad who is 85 sits in the house and stares out the window waiting for her to come home. She is all that matters to him. He has dementia due to Parkinson's.
This stress has sent my chronic pain into overload and I'm finding I am losing control of my nerves.
In one year I have had to come to grips with my possibly losing both parents and as well losing my son as he begins his journey to become female. I will have gained a daughter but it still is hard to lose the son I knew for 25 years.
This is allot for a simple man who is battling chronic pain in many parts of his body and mind. The pain meds make me feel like I have drug dementia which makes handling stressful events even worse.
I may be away at times but I will try to check in and read a few posts.
The Chronic pain group is great and I have enjoyed getting to know some of you and hope to continue. Hugs to all

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

You will make it through this unbelievably difficult and painful time. And you will be able to help others going through similar situations. Be good to yourself. Praying for you, your Mom, Dad and son
I wish you lots of strength to get through this difficult time.
this seems to me to call for prayer for mom and dad to accept what God has for them now and when their times come.
I am sorry your pain keeps you from being able to make the best of these stressful times....hugs bill
You say that your pain meds make you tired and foggy. Do you take your pain meds every day? I ask because if you do and you're still getting the drowsy/euphoric effects your medications may be too strong.
I hope that your mother recovers soon.
take care
sorry you are dealing with other problems on top of pain.
I often think if I could just focus on me for a while I might get better...probably just a fantasy but I think there are additional layers to dealing with chronic pain, responsibilities like family with problems, being alone to cope with everything.
Church is the last place I'd expect support, my experiences were negative there and I gave up.
If you decide to go to a religious minister to talk about your son try the Unitarians, they will be more accepting and understanding.
