I too reached that point of getting frustrated that the surgeries and pain pills werent controlling the pain and wanted to reboot my system and got on Suboxone bc its the healthy way to get off opiates.

I didn't feel any withdrawal symptoms but, since it is a partial opiate vs. vicodin being a full opiate, it's still giving your brain some opiates that can be used to relieve pain. But, I didn't get on it for pain management, I wanted to clean out my system. I took it only for a week bc my pain is too severe that I couldnt do anything...so I went back on the Norcos and fentanyl patch. Wish I could've been more help.

I've never tried Suboxone but my friend works in a clinic were they prescribe it. It's a CP clinic and she says it works wonderfully for a majority of there patients. If your dr is able to prescribe it then ask him/her if you can try it. I know that the dr has to have a special DEA license to be able to prescribe this medication. If your dr is unable to write a script for it then maybe he/she can refer you to a dr in your area that is qualified to prescribe this med. Hope this helps ya..

I am on my second day of suboxone and doing ok, i am a bit dizzy and my stomach is upset but cant throw up which is driving me crazy, i can say that i dont have any wants as far as the vicoden goes and the pain is manageable it was so nice to wake up pain free and not having to run to get a vic and then have to wait half hour for it to start working. Only problem is that i cant sleep the suboxone is like a energy pill and i cant take the ambien that i used to so that may be a problem also that i took ambien to sleep.

this may sound stupid, but young living has an essential oil called "peace and calming" and you put it on the bottem of your feet and it makes you sleep! I tried it and two of my co-workers quit sleeping pills. Its not cheap but lasts forever, pm me, i wont take any comm. for you!

Hey k, i think i did get some from you before and it did work, i will message you about it. I am looking for alternative ways to deal with the pain and sleep issue's to stay far away from any sort of pills, guess i am trying to turn over a new leaf. I think part of my problem is i am addicited to taking pills, i think i associate taking any sort of pill with pleasure so taking the act of pill usage is what i am trying to avoid if that makes sense to anyone.

Taking suboxone is giving me a sweet tooth anyone have this happen to them?

I have been on suboxone for almost a year now, and it has been working for me, I have had a bad month with migranes and I hope that it is just something going around and not the suboxone, because sometimes the naloxone in the suboxone can cause some headaches,then some people have to go on subutex which is the same as suboxone without the naloxone. I also take phenergan for my nausea, I get it really bad. But I take it before my suboxone regimen, how much are you on? I am on 24mg, if your still craving, you need to up your dose, I haven't had any cravings since I have been on it. goodluck!

I am so happy to have found this thread. I have been in slow release morphine sulfate for 15 years. I found that my pain was getting worse and I had a doctor suggest I might have opioid induced hyperanelgesia. Basically, my pain is real and my disease is real- but I hate the meds and they may be making me feel worse. I am on day two. I got sick as all hell first dose. Second ok. I am getting headaches and I don't know if I should swallow the suboxone spit or spit it. It seems like a huge change in lifestyle to do this 20 minute routine. I was feeling great because I didn't have extra pain and didn't have "withdrawal" but what will come next? Will I end up in a different situation??
Anyone come out the other side?

so prof sub, are you taking suboxone for pain control? If it were me I would take them longer then a few months. We get alot of people in the PDA group who are trying to stop taking those after being on them for years and are having a very difficult time doing so. They say the withdrawals are pure hell.

Everyone my name is Angela i am a chronic pain patient. By next year no pain meds will be prescribed for us. In other support groups this is already happening and we are losing people due to having their pain medications taken away. By suicide. Its happening all accross america. On april 7th we are having a rally in every state and on washington dc. Patients not addicts. We have a huge group growing except nevada which we need. Will you join us and help us by rallying on april 7th? We need your help. By next year no one including cancer patients veterens and chronic pain patients will have medicine. Angela you have no proof of what you say and riling people up doesn't help people with their pain situations.

ProfSub: you skipped over the part where the Suboxone, most of which also contains naloxone stopped the morphine immediately and put you into withdrawal. It also stopped the morphine from treating your real pain.
The Suboxone has to take over that job, but it's not as strong, so your going to feel like crap for a while. Your body has to get used to stopping narcotics and starting buprenorphine and naloxone to treat the pain, and they treat it differently.

OCP, a lot of people are spreading rumors and lies about doctors no longer prescribing opiates. If there were the millions and millions of people not being able to get opiates for their chronic pain. You would see them on the evening news and in the newspapes. People complaining on the internet do not count. People writing their opinions in blogs and online papers do not count. Unfortunately, some people take what others say with no proof as fact.

I hope those that march are not surprised when they hear people say if they can march. They do not need opiates

Hell, I hope the ones who are silly enough to think they actually have the energy and ability to March aren't disappointed when there aren't tons of EMT's on standby to load them up on stretchers and wheel them out of there.

The thought of Chronic Pain Patients doing a March is so ridiculous...well it gave me something to smile about today!

The most that might come from the march. will be politicians and government agencies saying if pain patients can march. They do not need opiates.

I know what the marchers want to accomplish. But, that will never be accomplished. On the other hand, it is a way for them to vent
