Bones which have been operated on heal by the body causing a huge amount of inflammation. Fractures and prosthesis take 1-2 years to completely occify where things were broken or cut surgically.
Inflammation in turn causes scar tissue to build up, which can cause swelling and nerve pain.
It sounds like your knee is super angry because you are on your feet at work. Most people that I know with TKRs can not handle this type of work anymore. I understand that for you it may not be a choice...
As long as the doctor has ruled out complications, maybe they can do steroids and NSIDS for you as well as cooling therapy at home - after work and on your days off.
I am so sorry that you are in pain. Maybe others will have some suggestions for you as well.
I personally like lidocaine patches for " angry" type pain.
I had mine in Sept 2015 and I am just now getting to the PM doctor to remove the opioids from my care.....hopefully that will be his suggestion when I see him on Feb. 18th....hugs bill
