Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I've never seen you post on this board. Not sure I've seen anyone talk about who they're voting for. Maybe I missed that.
How ' bout we just support each other and hope that we all find some healing and relief from our pain we live with every day.
would that be okay?
I wish that for all of us.
Peace xoxo

That is what I want and I know it's what we all want for each other.

There have been similar postings saying people should only post 'positive' things, whatever that means. Or that too many people just complain about pharmacies or doctors or health insurance.
Is that so surprising? If we all had great pharmacies, doctors and insurance would chronic pain even be a problem? If we were all wealthy and blessed with endless support and resources? If a few hours of meditation or 'mindfulness' or whatever fixed up our lives?
I am very anti-censorship also, it's our American right to speak out when something is wrong.
So I'll ask- what exactly does 'politics' mean here in this context?
The only political referencing I ever see here or write about myself is
*PPACA
*DEA effects on painkiller prescriptions
*Excessive profits from pharmaceutical companies jumping up the profits of meds some of which were developed decades ago like insulin
*Ditto insurance company profits where the CEOS earn many thousands times the pay of their staff and the traditional capitalist arguments of 'it creates jobs' are undermined by paying minimum wage here or tiny wage to call centers overseas
Of course we are all waiting to see what next for the USA with the upcoming presidential election and how it will impact us personally, but I have yet to see a posting encouraging anyone to vote for anything.
Most people I talk to in real life let alone here are struggling to understand what the implications of any vote will mean for their health care.
BUT honestly- unless you are administration of the website and someone is breaking with the terms of the website- is it a positive thing to tell people they can only write in well any one tone...
If someone is desperate for support or needs accurate info or encouragement to get through the worst of times, how is it helpful to say oh it's anti-American to say anything bad, we have to say everything is fantastic.
And how are people ever going to convey their experiences or fix anything if we're going to discourage or censor each other, especially unnecessarily?
Don't like what you read- don't respond.
Don't like a person- hit ignore.
Got something to say- be brave! Say it, maybe one person somewhere is going through hell with the same thing.
Life in the US is getting harder, during times of previous hardship people had others around them to rely on who were going through the same thing, acknowledgement and validation that they aren't failures to be hit with disability, illness, poverty, unemployment etc etc. If I join an online support those people can be in different states/ countries with way variant situations than mine, and disparage my experience in a way that people in the neighborhood didn't when everyone is 'in the same boat'.
It feels to me like instead of acknowledging people's circumstances we are increasingly telling them it's their own fault, if only they could work harder or be more positive, and that's not true.
Next years health insurance premiums are already unaffordable by many and are set to rise between 10-50 %
Is that a political comment?
And now you posted this here is anyone who finds themselves in trouble because of it allowed to vent or complain or report or even comment?
What exactly type of 'support' can we provide to anyone if they aren't allowed to tell their circumstances in case it seems un-American or not positive enough?
What if someone asks for help living in poverty with poor health care, are they ostracized for not being- what exactly?
I never thought I would end up with substandard healthcare, having to sell my home, finding there are very few benefits or support programs available- all the crap I've been taxed for or donating to for years incidentally!
Supporting=acknowledging people, accepting them for who they are and allowing them to express themselves. Really can't stand them for whatever reason, hit ignore, don't read, don't respond.
I actually " get" the gist of this post.
.. There ARE DS rules against.. to summarize.. "beating a dead horse"
( reposting the same thing over and over.)
It's also just generally considered bad form to alter the course of someone else's thread.
..People, of course, have the right to speak their minds.
But.. maybe a glance at the DS ROR's would be a good idea for all of us.
"OT posts have always seemed welcome here, as well.. but shouldn't overwhelm the general purpose of this group.
Have y'all noticed that most of the old faithfuls to this group have faded away? Or, that most newcomers don't return?
Do you wonder or care why?
..all said with all due respect and true concern for this site..
Especially new folks.
BTW..
I don't quite get why someone who has virtually never posted here would make this post, either..
In spite of agreeing with it to a degree.
Hugs

Haha.. most of my attempted posts have disappeared lately..
If this one does..I'll take it as a sign to keep my big mouth shut. :-)
