Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
A seven day stay for PT and rehabilitation after a traumatic injury is my only experience. Some of the exercises I did was something I would have never done on my own because of the pain. The seven days gave me a jump start and once home I could do them.
Emily I think a medical facility like that would give you lots of support. Most likely they would want to manage your pain so you could do what you needed to do with the PT.
I hope your insurance will approve it for you. If this can make you better and able to do more of what you want to do I would go for it.

You might actually find someone there who can help you with your particular pain issues.
How did you upper GI go?
Cant help much on what to expect, but sounds like a good retreat and probably could be very helpful in the long term.... Oooouch short term...
Hope your insurance co, can help and you get the opportunity to go...
Huge Hugs...
i think it sounds like a great opportunity to get feeling better...
it may be hard at first, but im sure the benefits out weigh the situation that you are in right now.. i have been thru pt numerous times thru out my life, and it sure helped me.. hopefully this facility has great professionals that truly know what they are doing and knows whats best for you in the long run.. if your dr thinks it will help you, then i would definitely go for it!!
Hope it all works out with your insurance, and the details behind that..

I spent 10 days in an inpatient rehab place and they worked wonders for me. I went from wheelchair to walker to cane in such a short time.
The rehab centers often have pm docs on staff- pain management is a big issue in rehab- most people have a lot of pain, and yes, the pt will be painful, but it's worth it in the end.
I say go for it. I hope your insurance pays- they should. After all, you're dealing with quality of life and the rehab center will only contribute to it.
Sandy
My GI this morning went alrightl, thank you for asking. I'm just now up for good but other than fatigue and a sore throat I feel fine. The results on the other hand were not so great.. It was an ulcer like they had been suspecting and it had caused severe lacerations and inflammation. (And this was after being on Nexium for a couple weeks, I'd hate to see what it was like beforehand!) They also found a benign mass that they biopsied and are sending off for tests. I'm not too worried about that though - I've had them in other places before and it's been so big deal. Better to be safe then sorry though, I suppose.
As crappy of results as they are, it's a relief to have a doctor say that there's something there for once instead of saying that it's all in my head.
I'm glad you have an appt. for rehab. I think it will do wonders for you. It won't be easy, don't get me wrong, but it will be worth it in the end.
Good luck to you!

I think a program like that would be very beneficial for you. The hardest part is carrying it through once you get home. I have been through a simialr thing but it was only for headaches. It worked wonders!!! GOOD LUCK. and the insurance part can take a while and be so FRUSTRATING! I am here if you need to vent. Maybe we can swamp stories :) HUGS

Dani is right- keeping up with it at home is difficult. If your insurance allows, have a home PT come out and give you exercises you can do at home, with equipment you find around the house.
My visiting Pt was so wonderful- she had me do exercises with an attachment from the vacuum- very ingenious!
