Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Prying on the vulnerable comes to mind.
Love inspirational quotes, prayer, music.....anything positive that lifts the spirit..." support for those with CP" :)
Honestly, I often copy my blog posts and put them here. But I also follow some very good blogs who I would not feel comfortable copy+pasting, and if I thought it was relevant to a topic on here, or if it was an extremely salient post about chronic pain, I don't think I'd hesitate to share it.
A: Yes. If they happen to have a blog and happen to reference it because someone posed a question about a specific topic, then I'd find it OK. but to be on here to ONLY promote your blog= WRONG!
It has NOTHING to do with songs, inspirational quotes, OT posts about whatever we want to talk about! Its about a Blog.
To dump a link to a blog for promotional reasons with no intention of coming back because they have no interest in the board except for the potential visibility of many people-- is tacky and in bad taste.
DS will decide ...
I DON'T appreciate being linked to a self-promotion site. No, I don't want to vote for your blog so you can win some award. Very tacky and inappropriate.
That said, I do enjoy the quotes and song links. They brighten my day.
Thanks for looking into this, jc. I appreciate your work!
Sandy
I don't advertise on my blog, so all I intend by posting here is that I have something to share on a personal site that might be beneficial. I don't take that route for "diary"-type entries on my blog; this was an article distilling my thoughts on overcoming an emotional component of CP that I hoped would be of help to someone else.
If it's against rules, fine. But I don't feel that DS is the be-all end-all of resources for coping with CP, and if others have material that might help me, I welcome it. Not everything worth sharing really fits in a post format. Maybe there are some out there preying on CP sufferers, but there's a difference between "here's a blot entry with my take on CP" and "in pain? Check out my blog for 10 ways to cope...and order my book!"
In other words, it's like anything else: shouldn't common sense and good judgment prevail?
sandy's stories are helpful.
common sense isn't so common! (not to insult anyone here!!!)
I think if blogs are informative with no personal gain, then it is up to the member's choice.
I want to reiterate that my personal discomfort with something doesn't make it not OK. That's why I'm trying to find out 1. How many folks feel the same. ( and, even that is just having the same or different opinions..doesn't make it wrong or right. And 2....if there is something to be gained in getting more people to go to your blog.
I've read DSs' ROR. Even having read their definitions of trolls and spammers, it seems that some of it is subjective.
I'd like to put the question to DS without referencing a particular thread..in other words as a general question..not a report of abuse...'cause I don't know that it is...or isn't.
I don't know that they'll respond in that case..but..I'll let y'all know.
Hugs.....jc

just a thought. nice blog, write it yerself.
I did read your post and blog the other day and enjoyed it. I am fine with seeing someone occasionally share a blog that may be useful or interesting. For me, the distinction is that you were a member, although like myself, a member that doesn't post frequently, AND you shared a blog. Maybe you will share others you feel are relevant. Conversely, if a member joins just to post a link to a blog, and never posts or particpates in any other manner, IMHO, that IS a violation of the RORs . But, I'm not the admin...
