I just filled out an ap for a pm doc. Asked about psych issues. If you take something for frustration/anxiety they label you a nut. What's that got to do with pain? I do go to a psych doc for meds to sleep only. She writes for buspar but I don't take it. She insists so it's on my records but my anxiety is situational. I am homebound mostly. That's depressing. I want to scream. Doesn't mean I am crazy. Have I ever been depressed? Yes? Then pain is mental? PLEASE. I have a family member who is mentally ill. I know the meaning of mental illness. I am not. I am in PAIN. So what if I were mentally ill and in pain? They don't ask if you have ingrown toenails! So why the mental questions? TICS ME OFF. I don't take meds for anxiety or depression because I'd have to list them as my meds. Maybe they would help me deal with the pain...fell less upset all the time. Well not ALL the time but you know what I mean. Little things become bigger because of the pain so you get upset easier. I have great compassion for the mentally ill. They are discriminated against so much. Oh well...don't need a reply...just wanted to be heard today. Husband ticked me off over some little thing and because I'm having a bad pain day I want to run away. Too bad I can't get out of bed/drive away for awhile. I'd fill the dumb script and calm down but I don't want it showing on a blood test and be further discriminated against. Could pour a stiff one but I hate alcohol. And not good with meds anyway. You don't need to reply. Maybe some of you feel the same way and this will let you know you're not alone. I have a good husband but he's human therefore has the ability to TIC me off. :) I sure wish I could go shopping or something alone. I'm tired of being carted around...I have to lay in the backseat and be driven. Sitting is too painful. I guess this will have to be my tantrum. Sorry. :)
I feel a little better now.

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...

Hang in there, I too send you a big hug. *hugs*
All Doctor's will ask these type of questions so they know exactly what you are taking and for what so that way they do not prescribe a medication that can have a bad reaction or even kill you, so is not about weather you have mental issues or not, it is about making sure that they know your whole medical history so that way they do not make a mistake when prescribing opiods. I also take meds for depression and believe me, my Doc does not think that I am crazy.
just wondering if anyone else had come across this...

I had to fill out a stack of papers that was thick enough to use as a door weight.
It asked all of that stuff and questions like
1. Have you ever been the victim of sexual abuse or rape?***none of your business!
2. Have you ever felt worthless or depressed?****of course I have, I am 36 and disabled in chronic pain!
3. Do you now or in the past feel different than others?****please refer to #2 above!
UHHHH, REALLY???!!!???
I only went to this PM once...I canceled my steroid injections and told them to take a flying leap. I did fill out the paperwork, half the crap on there was none of their damned business and the other half was un-necessary. I went to the appointment to get my pain meds and start treatment and they treated me like crap. I was literally in and out of the MD's sight in 3-5 minutes for a first appointment!
I scheduled my epidural injection and asked them to please mail me the procedure information so I could know what was going to happen and I could research the information. I got in the mail 10 days later a 1/2 page of things NOT to do within 7 days of the procedure and NOTHING on the procedure.
All of that time, trouble, waiting, and this 17 page booklet completely filled out and they sucked!
