Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I was doing well for quite a while. I have many health conditions... Fibromyalgia and three herniated discs and a bone fusion in my neck.. Needless to say, I am always in pain. It just depends on the day if it is tolerable or not. Well, for the last week and a half it has been intolerable. I also have massive fatigue. People around me get used to me doing well for a week or two and when I down slide it is always the questions,,, what have you done to try and stop it, what are you doing for yourself as if I would not be doing all I could to ward off the pain. Then I cannot do stuff around the house.. I am on disability... and it is even more grief. It is just overwhelming. I wish they understood that I already feel useless and guilty because I can't do more as it is. Then the depression starts seeping back in... Just frustrated, in pain and so damn tired ... Really triggering.. Just so damn ... sad watching so much of life go by that I miss out on because of this crap... I just feel as if so much has been stolen from me. This too shall pass??? Not likely. Just venting. Thanks ... Mishka

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

It is a hard, day to day fight. Friends and family can be so cruel because they do not understand the invisible illness that your are fighting.
People / family get angry at me because I am not doing better. It must be my fault. I am guessing that is what you mean by others not understanding and you feeling guilty.
Guilty is part of the grief process. When you lose the ability to continue, full force in your activities, it becomes overwhelming. And many of us go through the grief process, because we have lost life as we had known it.
Maybe research the grief process, because like many of us a lot of our past life is gone.
Maybe talk to someone, or find a support group. DS is my life saver. With out the support that I get here, there would be no one in my life.
It is hard but keep reaching out for ideas.
Stay strong.-Rebecca
I have come to the conclusion I'd rather be alone than surrounded by unhelpful unsupportive people...I said just yesterday if was in the hospice or the hospital a load of ghoulish people would show up- but it's too mundane to drop a carton of milk in to a shut-in!
I wrote my will again recently and have requested no services no announcements and no memorial. My son can have me cremated and scatter my ashes somewhere meaningful for him...I don't want a bunch of hypocrites hanging around feeding him platitudes.
Venting is a big part of coping I think, so is toughening up. The only people who understand what chronic pain is are those who have been living it for a long-ish time. If we were in this kind of pain with cancer or heart disease or stroke- we would have been dead most of us months or years ago. And it probably would have been easier for us to get appropriate support from professionals, family and friends.
I understand about not being able to do stuff around the house, I have jobs mounting up then my mentally ill ( depressed ) son came home brought his dog then does not take care of her as he said he would, so more of my energy taken up- my feet haven't recovered yet from Friday night when I had to chase the dog after she got out.
I just can't handle it all both financially and physically. It's annoying and makes a difficult life more difficult.
But I find when I get angry- it does make some energy and move the depression enough to keep going.
Funny, so many people here have no one who would support them through anything, my son takes it totally for granted that I can and I will! I'm not sure if that makes me a good mother or a fool...but I think I just keep trying to give him what I used to need and what I see many younger people needing.
Guilt is a learned emotion- it's one which comes from manipulation of various sources.
Hang in there!
Yeah, if someone wants to ask me why I don't do something a certain way, or why I do it this way, if I'm doing this treatment or that medicine, they're welcome to.... and I'm welcome to pretty much tell them to mind their own business and stay the hell out of mine. I deal with people at work, and at the many Dr.'s offices, hospitals, labs and procedural offices, I have no problem limiting the people in my life when I'm home in my private space and the last thing i'm going to do is waste any of my energy on guilt. The people who need to know my medical and mental business do and the people who don't, don't.
