Hi all,
I pop in here from time to time on getting tips advice on managing chronic and sometimes acute pain. Right now is 1 of those times. I have fibromyalgia, dpondylisis in neck and low back. 4 serious accidents causing spinal cysts and near stenosis, radicular cervical damage. I'm basically a non functioning mess trying to work from home in a laptop in bed. I am also currently experiwncing crohns like symptoms.
So, that's me in a nutshell.
I have no insurance presently so no pain management. I am hoping to get insurance 4/1 but it will break the bank I do not have. I was taking kratom after weaning off of oxycodone but then I read there was a salmonella outbreak. I bought the first shipment from a reputable local distributor with long-standing credibility but the 2nd one was a stupid choice I made and not sure if it lent to me being sicker than I already am (suspected Crohns disease awaiting further testing).
Presently I am taking arthritis strength tylenol and gabapentin and tizanidine. I have constant abdominal cramping for which bentyl just slightly makes a dent.
Any other suggestions besides hot cold therapies Epsom salt bath Jacuzzi? These are all things I am doing to try to make it through the day but I am at my breaking point.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Seems like when everything acts up, it acts up at once! I actually go to a PCP who works on root causes of health conditions, and there are a lot of ties between gut health and inflammation in the body-- so if your gut isn't good, your inflammation will increase.
A couple recommendations only from personal experience, which may or may not help:
-Atrantil (https://atrantil.com/) is an OTC supplement that can really help with abdominal bloating and cramping, and hasn't caused me many side effects
-A magnesium supplement (like magnesium glycinate) can really help with muscle cramps, HOWEVER it can also cause diarrhea if you're not used to taking it, so maybe try it after the gut calms down?
Also, when my GI cramps get bad I drink a lot of gentle teas (chamomile, lemon balm) for an "internal" heating pack effect. Hope you get some lower pain days soon!
Cooltone. I will look at website, thank you...interesting.
thank you too about other. I am out of camomile, but will try with lemon balm I am dx'd with peptic ulcer disease currently so cannot take certain acidic and already am taking a prenatal supplement for anemia. Hmmm, magnesium when I already have loose stool. Yea, will have to wait.
Casmac:
Yes yes marijuana would fit all perfectly, 1 hitch, stinkin Texas it's only legal for seizure related dx. However, my understanding is, it is available for cannabis oil locally here in Austin or certain online vendors. I've even seen on etsy but I've read the cbd oil is not as effective as the real deal????
It looks like I will get insurance 4/1. Doc appointment this friday for g.i. problems.
Does anyone have any input on Kratom. I've got to say, the powder I was tsking, the red kein Borneo, was very effective. The taste is horrible and not knowing studies to see how it interacts with other medicines makes me nervous. I frankly feel the same about marijuana though it gas far more studies. If only I lived in California or Vegas! My friend says they educate u on every strain for a specific medical reason like the anxiety and fibro pain.
God Bless
This is not drug that is going to be approved or marketed for pain in the U.S., ever. The FDA and CDC have already taken their position, without taking a "position". The accidental overdoses, potential for abuse, the 20 State Salmonella issue..
The DEA is pushing for Kratom to be listed as a Schedule I, the most restrictive classification of the Controlled Substances Act. The DEA reasoning was "to avoid an imminent hazard to public safety. Kratom is already banned in many States by State law.
You might want to find a different drug of choice, because this one won't be easy to get for long.
I'm not sure if lemon balm is acidic (I don't think it is)-- it's an herb that helps with anxiety and digestive issues, and tastes pretty good.
It might be worth trying CBD oil given your limited options with medical MJ? They've actually done some good studies recently that it helps with pain and GI problems, and there aren't legal issues so you can get better quality products.
I wonder if that atranril is similar or different than the vsl#3 I am already taking. It's 112billion live refrigerated cultures. My new doc has me on it and even that after 3 months has not killed my pain. Leo thinks it might be spleen. I'll just have to do all my testing and let the docs do their thing.
I may just may go back on oxycodone.
Wondering if any of you have been harassed for being on oxycodone because the hysteria? Frankly, it gave me some quality of life.
I have 2 inoperable 4cm cysts causing worse and worse radiculopathy. 3 different spinal surgeons said I had greater chance of being paralyzed than removing them successfully.
Oldpers....thsnks for pointing out about illegality of cbd oil. I didn't know that. Though I don't drive except for rare occasions, I am really glad u told me that. I have a professional license and can't afford to risk it.
BobMaine, yea last batch i had was Bali kratom and I took the capsules. Im glad to hear someone with same thinking. It worked great and it is legal still in Texas. That salmonella outbreak got me worried though .&before u say that is my gut probs, NO, Going on 4 years and really all my life of escalating g.i. probs.
If I had my choice, I would be on medical marijuana. From the research I've read, it's the best for my probs. But, it will probably be another 15 years before it becomes widely legal for medical use here.
Thx all :+)
Texas is still legal, but i think ala, ark, ill, ca, tenn, & wisc illegal.
I am back on pain mgmt...yay! Taking 600 mg x2 of Belbuca oral film & i finally have function back. Just got my 2nd neck injection. I think it is messing with my adrenals tho. Other than that, doing great. I got tired of the effects of oxy Am so grateful for belbuca. Hope ya'll are well!!! <3
