Even though states like California, Oregom, etc. have legalize the use of MJ for medical use, it is still illegal at the federal level, and the federal laws trump the state laws, that is why these people can still get arrested, makes no sense!

I can absolutely report (for myself that is, lol) that mj DOES work! Having been through many, many, many, maaaaaaaaaaany pain medications that all stopped working (and I was getting heavy-duty stuff!), my doctor put me on medicinal mj. Took my husband two months to talk me into it because I was a non-smoker. Mj was the ONLY thing that took away my pain. I only stopped using it about a year ago because it was too expensive (whoever told you it was cheap was not getting the real stuff, I can assure you.LOLOL My husband made sure I got the pure medically-grown stuff. Expensive!LOL)
Anything can and will be abused in this life. I am all for legalizing mj, but not making it readily available to any and all...because people should not be able to just get ANY pain medication for any reason other than pain.

Since my state does not have medical MJ I have to get it from someone else. But I am fortunate that it is a family member. Everyone's financial experience is different so I dont know if this is considered expensive or not,,,let me know....every Friday I get a $60.00 ammount that lasts till the next friday so basically I am spending $60.00 a week, is that a lot or reasonable?

If I lived in a legal state I would try particularly because good dispensaries are able to help match the right strain for the type of pain.
I have a hard time understanding why it isn't legalized by the feds as it is not as dangerous as many legal drugs, including alcohol. I've never known of anyone who got stoned and beat up their spouse!! Just a person opinion!

Deputy, I was saying it was cheap because here you can buy the seeds and grow it yourself. Now you have to buy the equipment up front like grow lights and stuff but after that you can grow I think up to 4 plants which is alot for one person. So in that respect I think it is cheap if you grow it yourself. Now going on the street no I dont think it would be cheap. But if you think about it, it could be alot cheaper then some meds without insurance. Here we can also hire a caregiver and each caregiver can have up to 4 patients he can grow it for each person so he can have up to 16 plants in one place. They have shops were you buy any type of seed you want even the good stuff LOL.

@CC: can you please tell me how cannibus is not directly effective for pain, when:

1. scores of pain patients swear by it, and
2. you've never personally tried it, nor have you needed to?

missa: I have to 100% agree with you about CC and his "opinion" (which as far as i am concerned EVERYTHING he posts is ONLY that!! as i believe him to just be pretending to be a doctor since most of the time he is wrong and never can back up his "expert" info) ok so what i was saying is missa you are right on!!! I AM proof positive that mj 100% relieves ALL my pain!! not some ALL!! It is awsome! simple side effects if any. And totally non-addicting! And people who have breathing problems, no problem! I have a great cookie method that works great! PM me if you need assistance.
And for the biggest thing you said missa is soooooo the BIGGEST POINT!!! CC has no pain so therefore is not in our shoes and could NEVER EVER make ANY kind of assesment as to what can help pain!

Not opinion, science. I have definitely instigated the venom of a few haters here...I don't see why and haven't intended to (I am guessing....yes, an opinion on this one, insecurity and defensiveness). Not helpful for the person practicing these tactics

I know for me stress drastically increases my pain. SO it would make sense that something that takes away the awareness of stress would reduce the feeling of pain. I'm guessing this is probably similar to the way anti-depressants work.

So maybe both side are correct..yes it relieves pain and yes it does it through mental channels not physical.

Very possible but vital to understand objectively what is doing what. If not, there is no rhyme or reason, no goals, and a vulnerability to being mislead and/or taken advantage of

I tried good marijuana many times for my back pain and my sciatica. It was still just as painful when I tried to walk. My mind was altered but not my level of pain. That is just how it did not work for me. I have a friend that swears by it for gout so who knows. Again, what works for one doesn't work for another. But, I have felt for years that having small amounts of marijuana should not be a crime. You can drive better when stoned than you can when drunk.

MJ is the best thing medically for me. As you all know I cant take pharmacuticals, any pill narcotics they just bring me way up high then drop me on the ground and the panic is so bad the only way to survive is keep taking the pills thus abusing them. I am incapable of taking pharm. meds correctly, plus they do not help my pain.
Well, I have been smoking mj for years but just a little here and there. Nothing big. Well I found it was helping with my nerve pain, but my COPD is so bad, so I get the raw cookie dough, every morning I will make 4 cookies generously filled with my MJ and it lasts ALL day! I need no more at all until the next day! And the best part is when I was smoking it it only did a little pain relief, when I eat my cookies my pain goes away 100%!!!!! Seriously, not kidding 100%!!!!! My state it is not legal and its a commonwealth, bible belt so it never will, but I have great doctors and they know about my addiction and problem with meds. and I explain my cookies and they are totaly on board with it. They know like everyone knows MJ is great for some people for pain, and a host of other problems but of course they can not suggest it or perscribe it, but they tell me go ahead with whatever works and they do not put it in my record. It is private between us. The best part is I have a new pain management doctor. He is young and cool and is sooo totally happy and for my cookies! He also was so impressed and glad I told him the truth right up front because he said now he will make sure I do not get drug testing ever.
So if you have only smoked it and it did not help your pain, try putting it into cookies or brownies whatever, and see if it works for you like it works for me.
Im just sooooo lucky, I dont have to risk getting into trouble because it is a family member I get it from so there is no suspicion of us going there or him coming here. So here is the problem for you guys who want to try it, please, dont go on the street to get it, toooo dangerous and you never know whats in it or if you will get busted and put in jail. I wish I knew how to tell you to find it safely. I was just lucky that my relative sells it safely.
Anyway, just wanted to tell you that with ANY and EVERY pain relief med or method, remember no two are alike and what works for one doesnt work for another. This is our own personal journey of trial and error. Took me many years til I found my method of success! Never give up or be discouraged!! Keep trying everything out there (within reason) I pray everyone find some relief like I finaly have!!!

PS: CC, the reason 12 step groups work and the reason this group works and other specific support groups work is because, if you have a head ache you dont go to a foot doctor! These groups are for people who HAVE whatever the support group is for and ONLY people who have what we have can we get help from or trust from one another because we all suffer simalar thoughts and feelings and support eachother with our own EXPERIENCE, not text book knowledge. Thanks for trying to "doctor us" but you can NEVER EVER help anyone anywhere on here because you dont have (that I know of) what we have and what we go through. and if you DO we would never know because you throw out your doctor crap. We all have our OWN doctors!! These groups are for us to share our similarities, suggestions from our own Experiences and well sometimes just acceptance and love. That alone lets us be open and helpful to one another because we KNOW what eachother are going through!!! You dont so please, if you are NOT in chronic pain, please, just go somewhere else. This is just how I feel. This is NOT written to hurt CC or anyone who likes him here or to cause any trouble, it has just been weighing so heavy on me, I just had to put in my 2 cents, and thats all it is, my 2 cents, take it or leave it! I have been holding my breath and not expressing my feelings about this for fear of getting in trouble AGAIN! But I couldnt do it anymore. Had to let the valve loose and let it out. Medical MJ is not legal in my state.

It has not been legalized federally which is why you hear about people being arrested and proscecuted and like someone mentioned their state has legalized it but some cities and towns still have laws on the their books. These laws need to be removed and it needs to be legalized federally and in every state.

I have not used it since my teenage years for fun.

I went thru hell with my cancer treatment and would loved to have had this available.

I never recovered from my cancer treatment although I have been cancer free my health and chronic pain are horrible and I would love to try this.

Most of the medical profession knows that this is one of the best medicines out there for a number of health problems.

The only reason it is not legal at the federal and state level is because there are too many groups that would loose money big time. The drug companies are the ones that stand to loose the most money. The criminals are probably in a tie as to which ones would loose the most money with the drug companies. Lawyers and the Justice system would loose alot of money. The alcohol industry would loose alot of money from those that use alcohol to self treat medical conditions because they can't afford health care. The list can go on.

It really is sad that our government puts these groups and the almighty dollar above the health and walfare of it's people.

It is the sad reality that I have been angry about for years now, that there no longer exists the thing they used to consider and call "Quality of Care" it is all about the mighty dollar!!! No compasion. The world has been going in the waaay wrong direction forever and well, I dont know but am kinda sure and really hope that it is almost over.
Think back to the times when people THOUGHT they had it rough and we thought they had it rough but not really, that is way back like Little House on Prairie, yes, hard way of life but such purposful lives!! And always looking out for your neighbor. Paying the doctor with egg laying chickens!!! What a wonderful world.
So sad, EVERYTHING is a scam today!! Here is an example and I am hoping you all will learn from my leason. I found a great deal online for that electric cigarette. A starter kit for like 7.00!!! and it came and it was great! I really enjoyed it. Well then the scam got me, the filters you use each time well like buying cigarettes you have to buy packs of filters and sure they are cheaper much much cheaper than cigs. BUT, I ordered some and it was 9.95 then when I finished the order, OMG!! The shipping and handling was also 9.95!!!! Then they tell me the atomizer, which is the most important part needs to be replaced every 3 months. It is also 9.95 and the shipping and handling is 9.95! And here is the biggest kicker of it all,,,,they make them so that you can ONLY get parts and filters for this cig is by buying them on thier website!!! I cant believe I fell for this!! Oh and the proactive commercials!!! Yeah you get this entire kit for 12.99 but when it shows up the bottles are a lot smaller than in the commercial and then you find their kicker,,,as the products run out and you need another bottle, you find out they cost like 20.00 30.00 each!!!
phew! sorry I highjacked this post but I had to get that off my chest. This topic about MJ just gets me so pissed off at how the world works and it is soooo wrong and I am one little person so I cant change a thing. And there are so many of us but no one can rally, we cant stand up and fight for it to be legal because hey, most likely if you are fighting for it, you are most likely using it then you become a mark, then you get busted.
Sorry for the ramble! Maybe I saved someone from falling for the same tricks. Im not saying you have to run around paranoid, but man, tv sales and internet sales,, risky, keep your eyes open.
