After kinda hanging out with my doctor at my moms friends house he decided to test me fro lyme disease at our next appointment. I told him I'm glad that he is helping find doctors to treat my pain but i would really like for someone to explain why these muscles spasms are happening and why they are getting wrose, and now i was told my heart rate is too high. I kinda mentioned lyme disease and he said that it is definitely a possibility and i was biten by a tick about 2 years before this all started so...anyone have advice on what to ask for before and after the test?

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...
" Honestly if you were diasgnose with Fibro and CFS I think what you have could be Lymes Disease. I have had this all my life and finally figures out it was Lyme after being misdiagnosed with , ready, LUPUS, CFS, MS, BI-POLAR, ENDO, CPS, WANTING DRUGS AND THE LIST CONTINUES. Come to find out it was Lymes diseae all along. Burning in the arms and legs and neck are classic signs once it has entered your nervous system.
I have been subjected through all those nerve tests, sleep studies and not to mention aqll of the drugs I have been subjsected to taking. thing is doctors do not believe that Lyme is as bad and as prevavlent as it is. So many people are misdiagnosed like me that it is appauling.
Apparetly if it is Lyme for it to be having tose symptom you have had it awile and you like me will probably test negatieve on the reagulare ILAS test that most doctors give. Only 30% not 70 get the rash. The public is told lies that really are hurting alot of people that have this disease but what the CDC tells most people believe. There is a lab in CA called Igenex, best in the country for finding Lyme Disease.
Also if I were you I would google LYME SYMPTOMS nad see how many more you have, Peopl think if you have Lyme you take 30 days of abx and your fine. WRONG, I have been on treatment now for 9 years and am stilla mess. The longer it is left untreated and misdiagnosed the worse it gets and yes it can kill.
This disease has been passed from my Mom to me, and I passed it to my daughter through birth. that is another thing the CDC and regualr doctors will not tell you. It can be passed from Mohter to child and partner to partner. It is a blood pathogen just like Aids. For this reason my husband also has it from me. Alot of people turn their heads and want to not believe the truth about this diseas. All you need to do is go to the support group on here for Lyme and you will see how much people suffer from this.
Alot of it is because most of our doctor were to arrogant to think we had Lymes and now we are suffereing the consequences. I have lost my job because I could not stay awake fro the fatigue and the pain was to intesnse. A job I loved. I cant clean my house like I use to I am a shell of a person compared to what I use to be.
please take this seriously Lyme does kill and it sounds like this is what you could have especailly if you were already diagnosed with CFS and Fibro. I was treated for 1 nad 1/2 years for Fibro at a very well known Fibro clinic and he really messed me up because he did not believe me when I told him it was Lyme not Fibro. Please just check into it before you loose anymore of your life.:) "
I hope this helps, God bless and take care, Soft hugs, Jennifer
That is an absolutely wonderful idea! It will be a good thing to rule out Lyme's, just make sure that if the Eliza test comes back positive, that they do a Western Blot to confirm it. A neighbor of mine got a positive on the Eliza and they didn't do the Western Blot, well come to find out two years later when she moved to Florida and after receiving treatment for 3 years, this new Doc decided to do a confirmatory test and BINGO, it wasn't Lyme's, she actually has MS.
Good luck and keep us posted,
Only 30 % of people actually ever get the famous "RASH". There is so much the public does not know about this disease. If you really feel it is Lyme I would google LYME SYMPTOMS and see how many you have. There are more than 100 and can mimic alot of other disease as my earlier post showed. I was misdiagnose my whole life until 32. It is in my nervous system and every muscle and organ. I have to get off of the donor list because of it.
If you feel that you have it and you will more than likely test negative if the bite was 2 years ago. That is why the test that regular doctor s use is useless. For that to be positie you have to have gotten bit close to the test.
But there are Lyme Literate doctors that you can see who send the blood work to Igenex Lab in CA. Best in the country. There are a couple of different tests they do but they were the first ones to find out I had it after 32 years and doing the ELISA test probably 10 times over the years. The longer you have had it the bigger the chances you will test negative because it camoflauges with your blood. The sprichettes are very smart.
Please be careful and I wish you luck any more questions feel free to message me. Best of luck to you :)
I get so sick of childish people on this site grow up. It makes me not want to help anyone. All look at Lyme because the CDC says it ins't bad they downplay it. Walk 3 hours in my shoes and then tell me it doesn't exist and tell my family when it took may Dad that it doesn't kill.
Thank goodness for the Lyme doctors who risk thier license , yes, certain doctors for treating people with the abx we need have lost thier license to partice for standing up and treating us with this HORRIBLE disease. They lie about how it is passed because they dont want to panic the public. This disease has far surpassed the number of people with AIDS along time ago. People need to wake up and realize things like CFS and FIBRO are more than likely Lyme but when the doctors hve no answer for the tiredness and all over body pain those are what they say they are.
You suffer from insomnia nd migraines that last for 1-2 weekd at a time. You have muscle spasms that are so sever you limbs literally jump from your body. You have burning pains so intense everwhere in your body that feels like a hot poker poking them all through your body including your head. You suffer from major depression in bouts where you see no reason to live even though you have an awesome family and it is killing them to see you like this and then find out that your child has it becuase you had this when you were pregnant and your husband has this because you were intimate with him.
Yeah then you can talk about the name being spelled wrong and a neighbor on who they were wrong. I think I would do all I could to make sure it wanst Lyme. But most people would rather sit back and judge. Oh yeah and when you have to go through life with such brain fog that you don't know what day it is. Or what you came in this room to do or when you get into your vehiclew and try to remeber where the key goes. Live a day in my shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know that Lyme's is a terrible condition, no one is taking that away from you or anyone that suffers from it, so all of your other comments were absolutely unnecessary. You have a bad habit of picking fights with people here and I am not going to be one of those. What I post here I post from the heart, and everyone that I help here, I help from the heart, so I don't need the unneccesary comments.
Read the way that you answer me and then you will see who was acting like a child. No one asks any of us to come here and help people, we all do it voluntarily and we do it from the heart, at least I know I do.....
All of us here suffer from some kind of pain condition, so you don't need to say anything about the "walking in the shoes part" because we all have a condition that is causing us pain. Some have Endo, some DDD, some fail back surgery syndrome, etc.... So we are ALL walking in shoes with chronic or intractable pain, and NO ONES's pain is better than anyone elses, including mine!
~hugs to everyone!
I came home tired last night and purposefully bumped up other messages to put this sh*t on page 2. Slrow has been a total immature b*tch to me too and makes these crazy comments about how "childish" we are when SHE is the one on the warpath. Please let this fall to the bottom of the list. I really wish Slrow would get off the chronic pain board permanently. She is so not worth it! I hope she gets the psychiatric help she needs instead of chewing out a wonderful lady like Tipper because of a Z instead of an S! Now that is nuts! Now that is slrow! Typical slrow! And yes, she will go after you now too, KMiller. And then you will be even more stressed. That is the pattern with slrow. Be forewarned!

THe part during this when you were tlaking about insomnia and migraines....and hot poker pain....that sounds like my life. My insomnia is not severe and it is only when I am stressed out. Migraines are a new thing for me, well the severe ones.
WHat would you recommend my first steps being seeing as how you are going through this personally?
Is Lyme something that i progressive? Because my spasms and and other things that are side effects from the spasm are getting worse over the years. they started in my lower body in high school and 5 years later have mvoed throught my evtire body and intensified. I have no imbalance with electrolytes or anything and noone has any answers for me anymroe. and now my heart rate is being affected too and from whe I understand of lyme this does sound like it could be cause by it.
But, feel free to respond or message me with what you think about my symptoms. My PA flat out told me today that seeing her is pointless because I am a medical mystery to her. I have nowhere else to turn so I am throwing darts and t the wall and hoping one sticks.
I do not WANT to have somethign wrong but just want to know why my body is doing this. I'm not sure I understood you tone correctly, but please do not belittle or put me down for thinking it is lyme disease.
You misspelled "something" which was really childish. (Just kidding! I'm being facetious here.)
I had the same issue with muscle spasms. I took muscle relaxers, opioids, magnesium malate and vit D + flax oil. After a few months, I started feeling better. I also stopped seeing a PA. A PA is not an MD and did not graduate from medical school. They tend to misunderstand the nuances of the human body. It is complicated "machinery." Trigger point injections also helped me, but I know how scary that epidural was for you. Trigger point injections are not as bad, but I wouldn't blame you for not wanting to go there after your experience. I also utilize massage therapy and a jacuzzi hot tub.
You should be tested for Lyme's Disease just to be on the safe side. You may also have low vitamin D, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, or an autoimmune disorder. They are common in young woman. You may want to find a good rheumatologist to rule out autoimmune disorders. It can also be something completely different. Sometimes it is really our nerves or discs that are an issue but the muscles want to "get in on the act." (Oh, thanks, muscles!) Tension can make all of this worse as well. Your issue may be a combo of things like mine was.
I have been bitten by thousands of ticks as I love to camp in the woods and in thick grassy areas with my big dogs (150lb each, yes bigger than me!) The rheumy ran a bunch of tests and found the vit D deficiency but he declined to do a Lyme's test because I didn't "look like" the kind of woman who camped and he figured that I must have "other sensibilities" despite reporting having whole colonies of ticks on me at once. I have been bitten by wood ticks, deer ticks, dog and cow ticks, sometimes all on the same day. Deer ticks spread Lyme. Dog / cow ticks are disgusting to look at, like a giant pus filled zit! Yuck! My hubby and I spent one hot Arkansas summer camping in the Ozarks and our evening activity was just picking ticks off the Mastiff and preserving them in jars. Ticks are hard to kill by crushing. You must drown them. They can tread water unless they are absolutely filled with blood. Then they sink to the bottom of the toilet or jar. Ticks love hair and warm areas of the body. Pay special attention to the scalp. They feel like scabs on the head. I have the perfect long thin fingers for plucking them off me and the family. It can take a real connoisseur to distinguish deer and wood ticks. The main difference is size. Deer ticks are typically smaller than wood ticks (but not always! Depends on their developmental stage and sex.) They have the same markings and general appearance. Often ticks travel in colonies or pairs. I have seen many sets of ticks having sex on my body. Get a room!
I hope that no matter what you have, you will find decent care. It took me 2 years. Persistence is very important. Be your own best advocate!
Kelly, get the test and i hope it comes back negative this disease does looks like it is scary
