Loose Screws trapped nerve after c5,6,7, t1 surger
kitkennedy
Hello Everyone! I am experiencing excruciating pain lately that came on pretty sudden. In 2012 had Posterior neck surgery c5,6,7, t1 this is after anterior surgery failed prior. Within 6 months they found 2 screws loose and was told by my neurosurgeon not worry you are caged front and back they will not go anywhere. So, threw me in pain mgmt. Well, about a month ago I started noticing I could not stretch my right arm out and could follow the nerve the loose screw it was under. Called my surgeon they told me he retired and made another appointment with a newer doc to practice only 3 years in surgery YIKES! My question is I am seriously in a lot of pain and not sure if I should go to ER to have scans done because I am pretty sure there is another screw loose that is backing out and has the nerve ending caught which goes down my right shoulder and arm causing weakness and jolts of pain. It is really starting to make my life hell by me being grumpy and not wanting to do anything. I just don't want that feeling we get by being accused of drug seeking which all of us seem to have experienced one time or another

So mad at Xfinity! They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today! Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

I know this is stupid, but after not being able to find a job after graduation for almost two years, I ended up just taking an online teaching job because I couldn't find anything in my field. I was trying to get out of teaching and I feel so devastated. I felt this crushing feeling when I signed the paperwork and when I was in the meetings. I know that sounds so dramatic but it is how I felt. It...

I don't know when your appointment is. If I were you I would look this new up and find his education and how long in practice. He may have come from somewhere else. The neck is a delicate area. I would want the best Neurosurgeon around. You have that choice since old doctor retired. You can choose a new one.
If you are in Pain Management I are you close to your next appointment to discuss this with PA or doctor? When is appointment with new surgeon? I understand what you are saying about screw and nerves. I had 3 pins that were meant to hold my hip together and they dug and embedded into muscle and nerves and stayed there for about 8 months. It is very painful in the neck. Worse than in hip IMO.

Your pain sounds horrendous. I wish you weren't hurting so much. Whatever you do, get a second opinion. I know nothing about back or neck surgery. I said no to neck surgery. As mentioned, we have choices. We have to do our homework in order to make an informed opinion.
I hope pain management is successful in managing your pain levels. Please take care.

I wish you luck.

What are your symptoms ?
If you are losing balance, having dizziness or can not hold objects, this is a good reason to go to ER as these are signs of cord compression.
If it is just pain, try to get in wih another neurosurgeon ASAP.
It could be something more than screws?
Hugs and feel better soon!
